My first inspired thread!! Anyway am I the only one that can actually live without sleeping with DH once in a while? On another thread the OP didn't want to give up sleeping with her DH so that her teens of opposite sex don't have to share a bed. I can't imagine the big deal in not sleeping with your SO for a bit. Gosh, DH and I go on a lot of seperate trips and we sleep apart close to 8 weeks a year! Of course we do just as many together trips too. I just can't imagine being that attached to someone that you can't sleep without him. I've ony been married for 20 years so what do I know! LOL!

more room on the bed for me!
when DH isn't there (when he's away on business or something)...I take the middle of the bed.......and then get pushed aside by the dog! heheh

Most night Dh gets sent to the guest room due to his snoring, so sleeping apart is no biggie for us.

I don't see a big deal with it. I do think forcing teens that age to sleep together is not appropriate.

Due to non-apnea snoring problems on the part of my DH, we never sleep together. So I guess that I'm a bad example. ;)

I've been married a lot (a real lot) longer than you. DH makes busines trips; I used to make business trips; I travel to see my dd. I am really perplexed by that poster. I wish she would explain. I can't help but wonder if they get affectionate with the children 3 feet away.

Ewww. I hope not!

Yep that pretty much sums it up for me :rotfl:

Sometimes DH will sleep in the guest room if he's stayed up so late working on a project that he thinks he'll disturb me when he comes to bed at 2am.

I actually don't really mind those nights too much.... the bed sometimes gets a little small with 2 adults and 2 cats! ;)

I honestly don't sleep well if I don't have my DH to cuddle with.

But if I had kids, I wouldn't make the them sleep in the same bed if they felt uncomfortable. I'd get an extra bed or an extra room all together for them.

My dh works out of town 3-4 nights per week- so I actually find it harder to share the bed.

While I prefer to sleep with dh, I would absolutely sleep away from my dh to make the beds girl only or boy only if we had kids of the opposite sex. Heck, I've done it with our boys in motel rooms to keep them from fighting. Now they're both grossed out to sleep with me since I'm a girl, so I'm back in bed with dh and the boys are back to turf wars in their bed. We've discovered if we let my oldest take his fleece sleeping bad and sleep on top of the covers it eliminates a lot of stress.

DH has to spend time out of town for work and those are the best night sleeps. Amazing how big a King size bed really is when your in it alone.

I *love* when I get the bed to myself! No elbows or forearms in my nose, no pillow stealing (right out from under my head! ) and no mouth-breathing in my face!

I'm sure dh likes it, too. I'm always cold and like the ceiling fan off, he's always warm and likes it on. I'm also an early riser and he gets annoyed with all the noise I "supposedly" make. :teeth:

I have an only child so the situation you're describing doesn't really come up for us. However, if I have a choice between sleeping with DH or sleeping with DD--I'd pick DH in a heartbeat. DD is ALL OVER the bed--the kid is 15 and the same size as I am so I usually end up pushed out onto the floor. :rotfl:

I don't sleep as well when I don't sleep with DH. He's told me he doesn't sleep well if I'm not there, either. So while of course, we CAN sleep apart, we prefer not to if we don't have to.

same here :rotfl2: On trips we have to get a suite or seperate rooms. :rotfl2:

We have 1 boy and 1 girl. In hotels, I sleep with (bedhog) dd and dh sleeps with (teeth grinder) ds. We stayed at POR because of the trundle bed. Dd, the smallest family member, got the trundle. Ds slept like a king in his own bed. Dh and I shared the other bed.

I wish more mods offered trundle beds, or even had a few rooms with bunk beds. Bunk beds would be the perfect set up for families with 1 boy & 1 girl!

My DH can barely sleep without me in the bed. The few times he has been out of town without me, he calls to tell me how tired he is.

Me, on the other hand, think it is a rare treat to sleep without 3 fans and a CPAP machine going.

I sleep alone about 4 nights a week. DH is a railroad worker, so he's not home a whole lot. If I worried about sleeping without him, I wouldn't get any sleep. That wouldn't be much fun. ;)

My best sleep comes between 4am and 6am. He gets up at 4am every morning so I get the whole bed to myself! :cool1:

I have absolutely no problem sleeping alone. I don't like to sleep with DD because she is a bed hog and tosses and turns a lot. She slept with be one night when she had a cast on her arm-- she hit me in the chest with it in the middle of the night :scared: didn't think I was going to be able to breathe again.
