This is the fifth night in a row I've not slept! I keep going to bed at normal time, 10ish, and not sleeping, after a few hours trying I've got back up and read a book or came online!
:wave2:
I've also noticed that when BF is here with me I sleep like a baby, :lovestruc which is rather inconvenient as he lives 4 hours away! I don't seem to be able to sleep without him here!

I've tried sleeping pills but they give me nightmares :maleficen and I've tried hot drinks before bed but I keep having to get up to go to the bathroom!

Any advice?????

Seriously, you are going to give yourself an ulcer.

:sick::charac2:

I challenge you to count your blessings daily and look for some good in your life. Maybe then you will sleep better, among other things.

Seriously. I'm not. I just wondered if anyone had any tips for sleeplessness. It's pretty common. I'm not stressed about it, I just wondered :confused3

Not only am I constantly grateful for everything I have, I'm also VERY grateful that anything I may raise on these boards is just trivial. I have a great BF, great friends and a pretty nice life. Obviously I have no need to post that stuff here though!

What would I post: 'today I saw BF, he is cute'?!?! everytime I post something like that no one replies!

I just thought I'd see if anyone here knew any good remedies for sleeplessness. I'm getting to the point where I'm afraid to post ANYTHING here as it's taken as a sign that I'm dysfunctional! Even something as trivial as having trouble sleeping!

It just seems like all your posts ring of: something's wrong, someone's made at me, I'm mad at someone, my family hates me, my roommate is a psycho, and now- I can't sleep.

And believe me, you can start posts that have no drama in them and folks will reply.

And if you are indeed serious, try drinking something warm with no caffeine in it before bed, or read.

Sorry if you feel this way but the stuff I've posted recently just doesn't seem dramatic to me.

Yes my housemate is quirky, that's not drama, I just thought I'd share that with you. I DEFINITELY don't consider not being able to sleep dramatic, it's just one of those things.

As for the stuff from my bday and before, that WAS drama, but I did promise there would be no more after that, and as far as I'm concerned there hasn't been!

I understand if people got fed up with the drama, I do sometimes as my family is too dysfunctional for someone as boring as me! As long as no one thinks I'm exaggerating, lying or constantly stressed.

then Lindsey if Florida agains post bother you why not try the ignore button.

Now to the original question....

Do you drink caffeine of any sort?....I've found if I drink a soda late in the day then I have problems sleeping.

Go to bed at a later hour. Try 11.
Can you take a brisk walk a few hours before bed?

next try reading the bible! I'm not kidding it will put you to sleep in a minute.LOL

I feel for you...I had insomnia when I was prego with my child recently...oh, it was horrible being up all hours.

Good luck!

Actually, the caffeine thing might be the problem! I've only just started to drink coffee. And I have had a cup every day this week. I don't drink it late but I guess if my body isn't used to caffiene at all it might be that.

Plus, I NEVER drink it when BF is here, because he doesn't drink it....maybe you've 'hit the nail on the head'

I'm trying no coffee tomorrow!

And no worries about LindsayDunn, I think the fact that I use too many exclamation points !!!!! has lead people to think I'm crazy. I'm not, I just really like punctuation!!!!!!!

I would try a smaller dose of a sleep medication. When I am having trouble sleeping (right now I'm taking an antibiotic that completely disrupts my sleep), I cut up a 10mg tablet of Ambien into 8 pieces and take one piece. (DH does the same and DH's sister and B-I-L told us they do the same thing--apparently many people find and entire pill to be too much).

Try Gravol or Dramamine. It is an over the counter anti-nausea medication that makes you sleepy. The drug name is: Dimenhydrinate. Some people take Benadryl but I find that makes me initially sleepy and then I'm hyper.

Exactly. I don't think we would mind the drama so much if you posted something else every now and then.

As for the sleep thing, get up and do housework. Just thinking about all the things that need to be done around the house puts me in the sleeping mood.

The caffeine might be the problem. I used to think I was kind of crazy because if I drank coffee or caffeinated soda in the afternoon (like 3p.m.) I would have trouble sleeping that night. Then I read somewhere that some people's bodies keep the caffeine in their systems for up to 10 hours. Now I don't drink caffeine after 9a.m. or so. (DH on the other hand can have a Mountain Dew with his bedtime snack and sleep just fine!)

I occasionally take Benadryl to help me fall asleep--seems to work well.
I hope you will start sleeping better soon.

I take a warm shower about a half hour before bed, then when you lay down and your body cools off its a natural way to induce sleepiness.

Like others have said, cut out caffeine. Try not to drink any soda, coffee, or tea in the afternoon/evening. Also limit your sugar.

I usually take a Benadryl or something similar about an hour before I'd like to go to sleep. THem take a warm shower, drink some warm milk, and just wind down.

cut out the coffee for a few days and see if that helps. Take a warm bath and then make sure your room is the right temp, make sure its really dark, and then start to concentrate on your toes ( I know it sounds stupid) and then move up your legs. Its suppose to clear your mind and help you to fall asleep. Good luck!
