Sleep Study??

my father had one done, and my doctor recommended me have one.

i have problems sleeping a lot. i can never fall asleep. i can stay awake for 24 hours some days. and i'm not necessarily tired, but i feel like a zombie. the first time i told my doctor about it, he tried telling me i was depressed and tried to give me antidepressants..................wth??? ok, nothing wrong with those......except i wasn't depressed! i just couldn't sleep! so then the second time he mentioned a sleep study. but if i can't fall asleep in my own bed when i'm in comforable surroundings.....how am i supposed to fall asleep in a strange place hooked up to machienes??

i say, if it's for something like sleep apnea.....then go for it. if you have problems sleeping, then i wouldn't recommend it. how are you gonna fall asleep there?

Thanks for all the insight everyone!

Liz, I had surgery on my back last year and I don't always sleep on my back either...but I "need" LOTS of pillows! So I'll definitely be taking some! I never thought of that (thanks marquis!!).

I'm not sure how I'll feel about someone "watching" me...I'm almost more concerned about...ummm...nocturnal "noises" (dear God, please don't let the Tag Fairy see this!! :rotfl: ) But, I'm sure they've seen (and heard) much more than I can ever do in one night! :teeth:

I would like to study people when they sleep :confused3

no one would sleep with a stud like you near by! ;)

My dh has had about 8-10 sleep studies within the last 3 yrs. He FINALLY got serious about his sleep apnea and they needed to do numerous sleep studies. He's actually having another one in a few weeks to see if the surgery has helped enough...

I asked him if the sleep studies bothered him and he said that it stinks he can't be home with me and it kinda sucks to be hooked up to all the sticky things and have to sleep on your back....that's it.
He's a PITA with most everything so for him to only say that was a shocker! ;)

Before he had surgery in july, he would come home from work (cranky) and complain, eat dinner, go to bed and get crappy sleep (I did enjoy kicking and hitting him to stop his snoring, though  )...wake up (cranky) and go to work...
repeat for 8 yrs and add some more cranky to it... ;)

If you feel so tired, I'd imagine that you will probably be able to sleep all night without much problem...
I know that's how DH got through the nights...he was exhausted from years of not getting good sleep.

I think he said he never had anyone in the room with him and he was allowed to go to sleep between 8-11 pm to get up for work at 5 am the next morn.

I hope you are able to figure out what is going on and feel rested :sunny:

Thanks Megan!

I will only get really frustrated if, yet again, we don't find any reason for this fatigue.
