Sleep number bed/ memory foam? Any owners

The best bed for people that are "hot sleeper" is truly an old style water bed.

I love memory foam, but hubby not a big fan.

We have been sleeping on a king sized adjustable base sleep number for close to four years. We hate it. We hated it the first night we had it but it was non refundable with the adjustable base. We asked several times if the beds fell apart, because the bases are two twins strapped together, but the actual mattress just sits on top, the sales man assured us they did not. They do. Constantly. I wish I could sue.

I have a memory foam mattress from Costco, and I HATE it. As others have said, once you've sunk down in after a while, good luck rolling up hill to find a cooler, stiffer part of the bed. Not all memory foam does this--my brother has a Tempurpedic bed that I sleep on when I visit, and it is heaven. :cloud9: Not all Tempurpedic is the same (they have many lines), but his is much more firm and I never sink into it.

We were convinced we wanted a sleep number bed, luckily the salesperson had a deal where you go and try one out at a local hotel, and if you bought one, they put the cost of the hotel towards the bed. Well, booked the hotel and HATED it. Felt like you were sleeping on an air mattress!

We went through the mattress wars for a while and were really getting discouraged. I like a soft mattress, DH likes firm. After venting and almost being in tears one night at Sears, the kind salesperson offered to order us one of their (new) demo mattresses! It turns out, in smaller Sears stores, so they don't have to have so many display models, they do a 2 in 1, firm on one side and soft on the other! Problem solved and the best money spent on a mattress ever! :worship:

We were going through the same tough decisions when trying to find a new mattress set. We couldn't decide between a memory foam, air, coil, etc. I have a really really bad back and it makes finding a mattress even more difficult in knowing you made the right choice. I found a effect bed for us and we absolutely LOVE it. It is a hybrid mattress with a coil bottom 2/3 of the mattress with foam and cooling gel making up the rest . It is a Serta icomfort series hybrid. They have a few different models with different levels of firmness to meet your needs. I chose it because the high individually wrapped coil count gave me the support I desperately need to keep my back aligned. The foam gave the cushion and eliminates the soreness at my pressure points (hip, shoulder, knees etc ) while the cooling gel keeps us cool at night. It is a perfect compromise. They also have a 60 night in home guarantee so if you don't like it after sleeping in it, you can return it .

Sorry to sound like a salesman! I really don't sell them nor do I have any affiliation with them. I am just a person who trialled 5 different mattresses in home and returned each and every one of them until I found this one. The king set including box springs, frame, and mattress protector was just under $2500 I believe. I hope this helps!
