is it safe and easy? I will be alone with my 11 year old daughter, I am looking for the easiest way to get from the airport to the ship.

It is very, very easy. Buy your tickets from the kiosks before you board. (Tickets are on the honor system but there are large fines if you are asked for a ticket and you don't have one.) You will want to go all the way to Waterfront station. That is just across from Canada Place and the cruise terminal. Happy travels!

I'll echo that. I come from about as small a town as they come in the midwest and had NO problems with it. You hope on and don't hop off until you are at the last stop on the line. I did have a bit of trouble figuring out what kind of ticket to buy if I recall but there was a phone attached to the machine that vends the tickets and they helped me.....piece of cake!!!!!

this is awesome... thanks for asking this question. Those of you have done this... did you take a lot of luggage? Are there cab outside this waterfront stop that can take us to our Hotel... We are staying at the Days Inn it's about 3 blocks from Canada Place but not really wanting to lug all three suitcase for three blocks.

I would assume so since it's right there at Canada Place with several hotels nearby.

I have never looked into taking the skytrain, but I noticed that the Day's Inn is around Hornby and Pender, and there's a station closer to that intersection than waterfront. Is it possible to get to the Burrard stop/station from the airport?

I'll have to watch the above video again and see if that was a stop listed. I noticed on those street names on the map of downtown too.

we did it 3 years ago. Was really easy and only about 35 minutes. We drove to Canada and the Airport had an awesome parking deal - only about $40 for the week (vs 30/day at the port). Was a no brainer for us.

and yes we had our luggage with us - 1 or 2 roller bags per person plus our "carryon"

has anyone done the reverse, going from canada place to the airport? if so, what time did you get on, and was it crowded all the way to the airport?

We used it both ways last year and I agree it was economical, super safe, clean, and very easy. We are a family of five and we each had our own suitcase (the size above the carry on size) and the youngest, DS who was 9, had no problems getting his suitcase on and off like the rest of us.

The return to the airport was on a Monday morning. We got off the ship around 10-10:30ish and walked to the nearest stop. It wasn't busy at all. The worst part was the long customs lines at the airport, but that had nothing to do with the Skytrain!

I would totally use it again and recommend it!

We did both with a 1 year old in a baby bjorn and a 4 year old holding my hand, DH with 2 suitcases and it was wonderfully easy. (No carseats, no rental car). We did it both directions. Stayed at the Fairmont Waterfront (across from the Pan Pacific- as a side note- great deal with Amex and they transported our bags to the ship) and we felt that it could not have been easier. Very clean transportation. Very easy walk bt the Fairmont and the sky train station, and we felt safe throughout the journey. The above video was great! :)
Enjoy your cruise!!

Thoughts...
  • Love Canada Line WITHOUT LUGGAGE. With luggage, I prefer the convenience of a taxi.
  • Canada Line is $9 per adult and $7.75 for each child from the airport ($5 discount going to airport). When you add up the individual charges, you are not saving much for door to door service for a $35 taxi carload.

  • the video shows the subway route, it does not show the the rider dragging their luggage out of the station to their downtown hotel/cruise terminal (navigating elevators, ramps and sidewalks). I guess they had their hands full so there is no video.
