Does anyone know if you get on the Skyliner at POP to go to Disney Hollywood Studios do you need to get off at Caribbean Beach

Meanwhile, in Canada, a gondola system crashed to the ground overnight due to a vandal cutting the cable.

I hope Disney has good security/maintenance because an event like this in WDW could be catastrophic.

Just a few strands, or maybe just one strand, broken on a cable can cause a severe mishap. This could cause the cable to come off of the pulleys at the supporting towers, or cause a car to not disengage where needed and the car crashes.

A direct lightning strike would severely damage the cable although I am not sure that could melt the cable all the way through and the cable breaks.

Nowadays they have sensors mounted in strategic locations and that continuously check the passing cable for frayed strands.

No, there are backup generators at all stations, and although we haven't seen them, there should be at least one backup generator to power the 3 lines. We don't know exactly what Disney has installed, but many modern systems have a backup generator that can continue to run the line normally, and a 2nd that can run at a lower speed to evacuate the system if the 1st backup fails.

That's unknown, but there's nothing anyone could do to help until you get to the next station, anyway; and you're never more than 6 minutes from the next station.

Dial 911 on your cell phone and tell them your in a gondola at Disney and which station you are headed to.
