Skyliner Ride Experience?

Hi all,

I'm just wondering, is the Skyliner a "smooth" ride or does it rock back and forth?

When I rode on a windy day, there was some swaying - enough to make me a bit nauseous - but I’m very sensitive to motion sickness - however normally it’s very stable.

The best transportation solution that WDW has devised yet. Fast, comfortable, scenic, easy load/unload. If I were CEO, I would make it job one to extend the service property-wide.

I think it is smooth till the end. Ride is jerky once at station to stop car.

It does seem the best punch for the buck. The biggest cost of transportation is Cast Members. Just a few CM for miles of tracks.

There does need to be a solution for Sky Liner downtime during lightning storms, which are frequent in summertime Florida. Don't know if there IS a solution.

It is a very smooth ride overall. Only time I felt jarred was stopping at the station and turning, but it was pretty mild.

When the Skyliner is running, its amazing.

Agree that it is smooth when in the air. I do have limited experience, though. There is a bit of jerking at the transfer stations. Mid-day it was faster from HS to EPCOT than the boats but there were no lines.

Very smooth while traveling, very little sway even in wind. Now if you get stopped for a moment you will get a little up and down motion that is uncomfortable to some. But I agree it's the best transportation on site.

If you are worried about it, take one of the shorter legs to just try it out. I'm not a fan but just because it actually takes longer from HS to Epcot then I can walk it and I don't like the fact that it can shut down with wind, rain or lightening. It's Florida that was just bad planning. I also don't like that it's not a direct shot between the two parks. You have to get off and transfer at the hub and there may or may not be long lines, you have to stop at Riv. but not get off and there is a transfer station that it slows down for (that part was bumpy the day I rode it). I actually won't stay at any of the resorts where it is the only means of transportation to Epcot or HS. It is a pretty ride though if you aren't in any hurry and don't mind potentially waiting in a line.

The Skyliner shuts down when wind hits a sustained 35 miles per hour.
It will run in the rain. Lightning, no. Last place you want to be if there is lightning in the area.
You feel acceleration when you take off. While in the station, the cabins move on a track propelled by wheels similar to your garden tractor at a slow speed to allow boarding etc. The wire moves at a faster speed. Your cabin will accelerate to hit the wire but it’s still moving slower than the wire. When you hit the wire, your accelerate causing the cabin to swing. Which is why it’s important to remain seated. Just the reverse happens when you land.
If it’s windy, for most people it isn’t bad if you keep moving. If the line slows or stops, you will sway and bounce a little bit.
