Skyliner Issues Continue

Sorry but I travel a ton as part of work both by train and air. The difference is if we get stuck on a runway for 30 mins or have to wait for oncoming traffic on the train I have a restroom, my laptop, and typically water with me. Not to mention a climate controlled environment.

There is huge difference between that and the Skyliner.

Well, yeah. That's not what we have at Disney in any way, shape or form, however.

(And, just for future reference for those reading, there is indeed water in the Skyliner, and you are allowed to bring what you like on with you.)

If that is acceptable to you I personally feel sorry for you.

Thanks?

2 hour train ride each way 2 days a week and 2-3 flights every other week typically for the year. With a bus it's even easier I can step off the bus and walk or they typically call another bus to pick you up.

I live in the country, so I don't have to worry about any of that... definitely don't feel sorry for me.

That doesn't touch upon statistics, as you are much more likely to die on the road in some form of automobile issue than on Disney's Skyliner. As for the Disney bus, you are subject to other (mainly tourist) drivers, and yes, they do send another bus, and that whole debacle took a lot longer than 30 minutes.

I feel like they should have banned ECV and or mobility issue passengers on the skyliner. Having to pull off cabins the line seems to cause alot of issues. I'm sorry if this seems harsh.

I wonder if this is the first skyliner that has the pull off because most at ski resorts are just go,go,go . I could be wrong tho. New tech with some bumps in the learning.

You really want to try and give Disney a free pass don't you. Your comparing a tightly controlled, static line service, that has been open for 3 months, and has had multiple service issues.

To modes of transportation that transport more passengers in a single day than the Skyliner does all year.

Commercial Airlines with a 2017 deaths total of 2 that would take the Skyliner more than 360 years before it should have 2 fatal accidents.

2018 there was 8 fatalities on trains most of which were a car driver from what I could find but it was just US based information.

As far as cars I would say yes that is more dangerous. But many of the accident fatalities could have been prevented sadly. When you consider 79% of the 40k fatalities last year stemmed from Drunk Driving, Speeding, or Distracted Driving.

By the way I live in the country as well. I drive 110 miles round trip when not taking the train but instead going to a different office.

It’s easy to judge with both feet firmly on the ground! Our issues were more with the response, or lack of. I get it ...this is the internet so everyone has a right to their opinions and I appreciate the general support.

To close this out for me, I just had a fairly lengthy conversation with someone from Disney. We discussed the entire situation and the lack of response, along with changes that could/should be made for these types of situations when they happen in the future ....because it will happen again. It was handled very well as I would have expected ...there was genuine concern for making improvement. So we’ll see what happens. As a side note, I have a pretty good understanding of the operations here(well, better than the average guest I’d say) because of a job I had years ago working with the facilities/operations team -that May have helped, but either way it was a productive conversation.

Same situation here. We rode it a couple times and enjoyed it and the convenience. The best way I can explain it is, until you’re up there wondering what’s going on and how they’ll get you down ...it’s hard not to have a level of concern for your(or your family’s) well-being. Forget the Skyliner issue -to offer no apology or concern for us is a total failure. Did someone need a water? Where were you headed -can we help get you there easily? The most basic customer service steps weren’t taken. You’d get better service at a gas station ... Embarrassing.

You're right about the service. It's not acceptable. While I found most Skyliner CMs to be wonderful there was an incident where I saw one act blatantly rude to a guest.

No, there's plenty of issues I've had with Disney having traveled there most of my life, this isn't one of those times for me, though I can empathize with the OP. I've taken multi year breaks from WDW for various issues in the past.

No, I'm comparing Disney transport options and my "fear" level being stuck on one. I view statistics as giving me more proper feedback than people sharing experiences (even my own). Stats on gondola systems are available. Compare those to automobile stats.

I don't think I could take that, be safe out there!

I wouldn’t directly blame any CM in this case -even though it wasn’t correct . I discussed this directly and in this particular situation a person in authority should have been in position to make contact. We were dropped at Riviera, which brings a whole different set of variables to the picture given it’s their first week. It may have been different at other stations, but based on the conversation it wasn’t just Riviera in my opinion.

I would have been upset with the lack of information and a simple everyone o.k. when we got off as well. We haven't used it because my son is afraid of heights and claustrophobic, being stuck 30 min in a small box up high, nope wouldn't work. They should have made periodic announcements at least and simply asked is everyone o.k. when you got off, or even a slightly funny "wow you had quiet a trip didn't you, how was it?" would have been nice.

Thank you for sharing some of how Disney responded to your concerns.

I still can’t get over them telling you to arrange transportation. It’s just insane.

If you are so concerned or super inept, don't ride.

We waited in a long line outside HS last week early Friday morning to get into the park. Two people who were healthy young 30 somethings age wise were among those riding the night of the 3 hour stoppage. Luckily they were riding with one 2 other adults. They reported they didn’t receive any compensation, which was ok with them. They were ok with that, sounded like they were just relieved to finally get out of the Skyliner car. The other 2 adults made it ok until the last few minutes. I guess a 3 hour stoppage pushes some kind of boundary of what people can tolerate. Regardless, I asked the couple we spoke to in line if they would ride Skyliner again. I received a hard NO on that. I think guests staying at CB, Pop, AOA, or Rivera book there for the Skyliner. Those resorts aren’t ones we consider so we have no reason to use the Skyliner.
