Hey all

I’m very excited for the new Skyliner to launch! I love it’s current route, but I’m also excited that there is talk of possibly extending it out to Animal Kingdom on one end and Disney Springs on the other. We own at Beach Club and it will clearly be a great hub for Skyliner journies!

But I do worry a bit about whether the Skyliner could impact DVC value. Disney is doing a wonderful thing by adding in a pleasant non-bus transport option for the value resorts. But if there is no transportation advantage to, say, staying at Yacht Club because it’s just as easy to reach Epcot and Hollywood Studios from Pop Century and Caribbean Beach, then why would people continue to pay more to stay at the premium resorts on that side of the park? Am I overthinking this?

I think it will be an especially interesting question for new folks who might consider buying in at the future DVC Riviera.

Anyway. Just a thought. Curious to hear what others think.

I’m not sure the gondola would ever be as easy as walking from Epcot to BCV...Pop Century and CBR are both outside entry. They are fun as a value choice, but not as nice.
This. Staying at Pop or Carribean is a far cry from staying at Beach Club, regardless of transportation.

Plus, those gondolas will be out of service during thunderstorms, and any other time lightning is spotted within a few miles (so potentially, for hours each day during the hot months of the year). No Disney transportation is ever as reliable as walking from a nearby resort.

Disney is not building the Skyliner out of good heart. Connected resorts will get a rate upgrade. Price difference between these "upper-values" (Pop and AoA) and other moderates will be very small and with a deluxe will be smaller. It's possible that staying cash at AoA will be about the same as staying in a DVC resort as a owner, long term.

Disney is building the Sky Liner for one reason, TRAFFIC. Too many cars and busses. Why do you think they provide Magical Express and now charge you to park at a resort, so you don't drive your car or a rental. They just can't handle the traffic. We spent almost 1 hour on the bus from CCV to MK this summer. The boats were not running so that was not an option. They NEED to find an answer to their traffic problems, building more resorts is not going to help.
