Hi guys-
I'm thinking of booking a Skybus flight in April. I'm debating about spending the extra money for priority boarding. I'll be traveling alone with my 5 and 6 year olds, so getting seats together is important. For those of you who've traveled Skybus before, do you have any advice? What percentage of the passengers seem to have paid for priority boarding? After the priority boarding people, how do they decide who boards next? Is it based on check-in time?

Thanks for your help!

DH flew out to Bellingham and back last week on Skybus. He did not have priority boarding. I checked him in 24 hours before his flight and his boarding pass had a "2" on it. Those who have paid for priority boarding receive a "1" no matter what time they check in. The rest receive a "2" or "3" based on what time they check in. I think it's like Southwest's A, B, C boarding with the first boarding group being those who "paid" for the privilege.

I paid for priority boarding on our upcoming trip because I want to sit near the front and get off in a hurry. Also, for our trip home we'll be checking-in at the airport and I do not want to be a "3" because of checking-in so late.

By the way, DH had nothing but good things to say about Skybus! :woohoo:

They only sell a certain number of priority boardings. Everyone else is a 2 or 3 depending on when they check in online.
After priority boarding they have family preboarding.
They do have people line up for the 2 and the 3 line. One thing to note is that they board from the front and the rear of the plane. We went to the rear boarding and not as many people used it. They unload from the front and the rear as well so you get off pretty quickly.

Thanks for the info! I went ahead and booked my tickets today and decided not to pay for priority boarding. Hopefully I won't regret it. On the way down, I'll be able to check-in the day before, so I should be able to get group 2. We don't mind sitting in the back, so I'm hoping I won't have too much trouble ensuring we're all together. On the way back, DH will be with us, so splittling up will be easier.

Thanks again for your help!!

Well the good news is, if you decide that you want to upgrade, you can add that on as long as there are still PB slots available..

I DID buy in for my trip to greensboro earlier this year, and it was nice, I would say VERY few do the upgrade, I think there were like 10 -15 of us that did it (probably the 10 that got the $10 ones upgraded :p
