Has anyone used Skyauction's $199 7 night and you pick the resort certificate? Any bad or good experiences? Thanks!

This is the ONLY way we go anymore. We do all of our vacations through the Blowout weeks.

I have never had a bad experience per say, but I do a LOT of homework beforehand.

I check what is available, then I go to Trip Advisor to see how the place ranks/rates before deciding.

You just need to know a few things beforehand: You will be getting older units that RCI members don't typically use much anymore.....no elevator, no inside entrances, 2 story buildings, older TVs, no wifi in the units (typically you will need to purchase a week for $28 total for internet access at the business center).

If you know all of that going in, you will not be dissappointed. If you are expecting all new with all new ammenities, this is not for you.

We have used skyauction 3 times and been very happy with the 3 different condos we have chosen. I need internet access when we travel so last time we rented at Windsor Hills. If I didn't need the internet I would use skyauction exclusively.

I used it a few years back for a trip for my parents to Kauai and they loved it. The hotel was not the newest but it was well maintained. They were happy and it was easy on the budget because it was a gift from me for their anniversary.

I don't have a link to a current offer, but typically you have to book your stay within 12 months but can stay up to 18 months beyond the purchase date.

I goofed this time and my stay had to be booked by May and I had 2 weeks left so I just booked 2 weeks this fall. It will be ok, but they aren't the best weeks for us to go....I should have planned better and gone more last year with them.

Also, be aware that if you can only travel during peak times, you may not be able to use these......these are great for off-season travelers.

I would love to know more about this. I've never heard of skyauction before. I looked at their website and it looks like you have to bid on vacations. Is this similar to ebay? I never get anything that I bid on there! Can any of you who've used this in the past give me more info on how it works and what kind of deals you've gotten?

I just booked our last week too.....we are going to Williamsburg in May.

I am hoping for some new offers soon as I really want to head to Disney in the Fall to use our GAD passes towards APs!

We're doing Massanutten for a long weekend. There wasn't a huge selection of dates, but for around $200, it was wonderful. We've also done Williamsburg, and there are a lot of Williamsburg units in the system.

Does anyone know if they have changed it recently? The one I had was given through Skyauction was a Resort Certificate from the ResortCerts.com site. It was $179 + $20 admin fee when I got it in March 2009.

Yes, this is what I have gotten too. We just say $199 because it adds up to that amount.

I haven't seen an offer in a LONG time and really need to get some more weeks!

Deal is back, but is $249 now plus $20 admin fees! That is an increase of $70/wk, but still cheaper than most other options.

The Vacation Certificates are on SkyAuction today as the "Deal of the Day" for $229.99 per certificate plus a one-time processing fee of $20 (regardless of the quantity of certificates purchased).

I'm tempted by this for DH&I for our anniversary trip. We don't have to go any specific place, so it might be fun to just go someplace where we can find availability!

The only think I worry about is the expiration date on Nov. 2010. And you can't check availability until you have purchased the certificate. So I'd be afraid I couldn't it.

They don't expire in November, at least that's not how I just read it. You must BOOK by November, and have 12 months FROM that date to use it (so Nov 2011 to use it by).

Is there a list somewhere of participating resorts??

I am interested in any information on this site as well. Do they only offer these certificates at certain times of year? Do you buy a certificate and then see where you can stay? Are they unused time shares?

According to the offer, reservations must be booked by November 30, 2010. You can travel up to 12 months from that date (so you have basically until November 2011 to travel), but you can only see availability up to 340 days in advance.

You can check availability before you have purchased the certificate by going resortcerts.com and picking "Preview Resorts".
