I know this is off-topic, but with so many of you utlizing SkyAuction, thought I would see if I could get any input:

Have any of you used Sky Auction for a cruise, and if so, would you recommend the process, or do you have any do's and don'ts...

Thank you for ANY and ALL comments!:Pinkbounc

Hi Molly!!! I bid and won a cruise on SkyAuction for Voyager of the Seas. My advice is as follows:

Watch other auctions to get an idea of what amounts people are bidding. Check out what it would cost to purchase the cruise directly. Now decide what is the maximum you will bid. DO NOT be tempted to go over that amount. Too many people overbid, when they could have purchased it directly.

I bid on SkyAuction for over 2 years before I won (I was looking for a real cheap cruise and I got it!!).

I looked into a cruise on Voyager of the Sea during the Christmas break. The travel agent gave me a quote of $1000 per person for one inside cabin. I found the same cruise on the Skyauction website, bid and won. The price was over $500 less per person and we get two oceanview cabins. Sweet!

The unnerving part is waiting to see if you can get additional family members at the same price. (I signed up for DH and I and then had to wait and see if the two teenage sons could come.)
