I'm very new to this...how does it work? What is your experience with it??
Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!

Chantal

you made a bid on the resort you are interested in - if you win it - then skyauction sends you an email saying you have won - you have 24 hours to pay for it - (I always have a credit card - don't know what you would do if you don't)

the timeshares (7 days) add $195 +$15 +your bid to what you will pay

the Hotels add $32 + $5? + your bid to what you will pay

I think with the extra charge of $32 - most of the hotels aren't a good buy - occasionally one will appear that is excellent - but the price goes up so fast that it generally (to me anyway) is not worth the hassle.

If you find one that you would like to bid - wait until the last few minutes - now if noone has bid on this - you will probably get it -

however if someone else is bidding - you might be shut out before you get to bid again.

so if someone else is bidding - go for audit bid - it is off to the side - place your bid and at least $15 more dollars in the autobid - when I really want something I put in $75 or more - depending upon how badly I need it.

you know how to get there -right

click on USA/Canada - then Click on Florida (off to the side), the click on hotels on (to the side and down)

you can get a 7 days in a condo 1 or 2 bedroom for $211 if no one else bids - it has been done.....

this is true they are great i got 2 bd/2bath for 215.00 total
won bid 5+195 fee+15 fee= 215.00 no other hidden charges, you put down a deposit at the villa resort of like 100 or 150 but you get back any unused amount, this is standard i think just like hotels

Sorry to jump on your thread but I have a relating question - what if you only need 6 nights....can you still get a timeshare resort....and is it worth it? Or can you pay for 7 nights and just leave early? How would that work?

Thanks!
Amanda

those skyauction if you get one that is 7 days - and you only need 6 days not a problem - you will pay the same amount....

so it depends upon you and the other deals you can find out there.

for $211 to $250 - for a 1 or 2 bedroom even for 6 days it would be hard to beat.

Now for Orange Lake and Sheraton Vistana - when the bids get up in the $300 - they will end up paying $510 and up - for me it is not worth it - but if you have the money and don't own a timeshare. I own timeshare so I have to pay maintence before I have play money for these.

One more question (sorry) - on the timeshares the amount you are bidding is for the entire week - is that correct? So there are "fees" of $195 and $15 - so $210 + the amount you bid - is that right? Sorry to be a nuisance....we are just trying to go this May as cheaply as is humanly possible since we have AP's we want to go. We usually stay onsite for $49 or $55 a night so the idea of $74 if they come out with codes makes me sick. So I'm hunting for something more affordable.

You have got it! - the amount that is showing is the bid only amount - so remember to add the $210 so you won't get a shock at the end.

you might wait until closer. around 90 to 60 days something there is more stock - I have seem the best deal a week before leaving....

I really think WDW will come out with some good codes for May.

if you win a bid with skyauction and they can find what you want - then you are stuck....if you want to be on site - I would wait.

Thanks!! I think I may book a value room only and if I can find a good deal later than just cancel - but that way I've got my bases covered. Do you think I'll have a chance of getting a better deal closer?? There are a couple that if I won right now it would end up being around $50/night (big "IF I won") I'm looking at May 14/15th - May 21st. Any insight into what rates may be available then through SkyAuction??

One more question - sorry - I see the Best Western LBV is offered on SkyAuction currently. In that instance do you bid and then if they don't have availability for the dates you want are you just stuck??

if you don't care about staying on-site - skyauction is great!

the Best western LBV is a hotel - I don't use skyauction for hotels. I go with priceline - you can generally get it a little cheaper -when you name the price.

I have also used these for hotels
www.hotelkingdom.com
www.hotelmartusa.com

skyauction is best for timeshares - the ones that say 7 days

You have to make up your own mind on what to do.

You could take my way - I determine what WDW would cost me for 5 days (my normal stay) - then I get a good deal on skyauction - then when the codes come out I get a day or two (not together) at a value resort - then go to WDW for those days only.....Using the money that I saved but not booking the whole thing with WDW.

some people can't stand to change hotels - you aren't really changing - just spending one night at WDW after going to the parks all day - do the parks again the next day (your WDW ID works for the next day too). then take a couple of days off back at your condo - then do it again....

I get all the Disney perks - but I save money too - but being off site for most of the trip.

However this is too much work for alot of people. Everyone is different.

Thanks for the help! We may be giving skyauction a try this trip. I'm hoping for one of those GREAT deals (but not counting on it).
