Sky Cots and Bulk Heads (VA)

Hi

has anyone travelled and used a sky cot when there are only two adults and you don't have a seat for the infant?

I am getting quite concerned that we are going to either be stuck on the window and middle seat or isle and middle seat and will be disturbing dd everytime she drops off to sleep (fingers crossed!) so that the person at the window can get out to the isle or we need to get out - if that makes sense???

Can anyone tell me exactly where the sky cots are - I know they are bulkhead seats and that there are 7 in economy on our flight from Manchester but are there eg. two in the middle section of 4 seats so we don't have to have someone with us in the sections of 3 seats?

Anyone with advice for entertaining a 7month old for 9 hours on a plane - it would be lovely to hear your experiences as getting worried now!

I've used it at home for 2 winters also!!

As for keeping a baby entertained during the flight, I just took a bag full of small toys and those tiny books in a box however I found that she didn't really bother with them and slept for most of the flight.

I have flown quite a bit since with both daughters and I have found that a travel sleepingbag that I bought from jojo maman bebe was worth its weight in gold. It had a slit in the middle that you can use for the seatbelt attachment, car seat, or for evenings in the pushchair. That way you don't disturb your baby when transfer them to and from cars, pushchairs, cots etc. It also has removable arms so you can keep them on during a cooler night flight and take them off whilst in Florida. I've used it at home for 2 winters also!!

As for keeping a baby entertained during the flight, I just took a bag full of small toys and those tiny books in a box however I found that she didn't really bother with them and slept for most of the flight.

I always get myself so wound up before a flight, worrying about them crying, getting bored etc but I always find they're so much better than I expect. Also if they have cried on board a flight because they're tired etc, I feel that everyone is looking at us, tutting etc, however I always find that people are very understanding and comment on them being so well behaved during the flight. I guess what seems like an eternity to us mothers when our child is creating in public is in reality a very short time!!
