I got your PM but I thought I would just post here since maybe someone else might have the same question.
When I have bid on a, I'll call it a "regular" auction (7 days at such and such resort), I didn't "hold" a room. Last year I bid on Vistana for a certain week. As in, the auction said, "for the week of Sept. 3rd only", so I didn't have a bunch of dates to choose from.
I don't think the auction you're interested in is really any different though. It lists some dates to choose from and I think once you win the auction, you tell them the date that you want. I do believe most times, the date you pick (as long as it was one of the dates listed) you will not have a problem getting. Once in a while I hear of someone on here saying that at the beginning of the auction, their week was there, and then when they won it, it was gone. (If that happens, they give you your money back or you may use those funds for another auction, but it is rare that it happens)
Now, for the RSG auctions (Ready, Set, Go), THAT'S when you go into the auction and see what is available, THEN you "put a hold" on that resort and week. I have won three auctions this way and have never had a problem getting the week I wanted as long as it was in the list to begin with.
I hope this makes sense. And maybe I'm wrong about the holding of the week on the "regular" auctions, but I just don't see a place where they let you do that. (unless they want you to email them or something, but I don't think you need to do that)
Any more questions, just ask. I hope I helped and didn't make it more confusing.
