skipping WWoHP

My kids know nothing about Harry Potter 8 yr old DD doesnt like "that kinda stuff" and my boys are 5.

1. should we still go in? or will it not be worthwhile.

2 there is still plenty to do if we skip it right?

We have never gone to UA/IofA

WWoHP is only a small part of IOA and I'm sure you'll have a great time!

Make sure to check out Suess Landing and Jurassic Park especially. Camp Jurassic and the Jurassic Park Discovery Center are lots of fun as is Me Ship, The Olive in Cartoon Lagoon.

And don't forget Spiderman!

Even if the queues are way too long for Forbidden Journey, I think you kids will love walking around Hogsmeade.

I know nothing about Harry Potter, but the Forbidden Journey ride is still a blast. Even though I don't understand a thing going on, it's a brilliant ride. There's also a roller coaster that's good for kids in that section that your youngsters may enjoy. So, while you can skip it, I do believe you can still have fun in Potterland without knowing anything about the books.

There is, however, a bit of a scary portion to the ride -- there are monsters on the screen, and you get spit on by a "spider."

I would go in even if you don't ride anything. Most kids like castles and the area is pretty impressive.

I would still walk through it and ride Flight of the Hippogriff. It is a fun little coaster.

I would probably go through it in the evening when crowds have died down....and the Discovery Park Center is amazing. My son was chosen to name the new baby dino that was just "born". He love it. There is also an outdoor area where you can step on different dino footprints and hear them roar. It's a really neat area.

If you like taking pictures, WWoHP is super-photogenic. Especially just after sunset. I got a couple of pictures just as it was getting dark and a half moon was rising over Hogwarts, and they look like stills from the movie.

Even if you're not interested in the ride itself, the queue for Forbidden Journey is very nice with the talking paintings and holograph-like appearances of Dumbledore and Harry his pals. A much better walk-through attraction than Poseidon's Fury.

The little shops in the village are also very attractive with interesting displays of owls and whatnot. I think you could spend a good hour just walking around the village taking pictures and experiencing the FJ queue and consider it time well spent.

If you skip WWoHP altogether however it's still a fantastic park. If you dislike extremely loud noises, annoying flashing lights and explosions and slender plotlines however then I would definitely advise skipping Poseidon's Fury and the Sindbad show.

I could care less about Harry Potter but I still enjoyed that section of the park . Your daughter can probably ride Forbidden Journey, and the boys can ride the small rollercoaster that's there. I would visit that section just to check it out because the theming is impressive, don't pass it up!

I wouldn't skip it just because DD doesn't want to go. It is a family vacation she should be tolerable of things others may want to do or see. That being said as someone who enjoys the books and the movies it's an amazing area. The rides and the food are amazing. I always find it interesting when kids say no to things because "they aren't into it" usually that translates to my "friends don't do it so I don't think it's cool". She may enjoy the area and heaven forbid pick up the book and read it!
