Skipping Mexico stops?

Our cruise stopped there years back. Some cruisers chose to do an "outside" excursion rather than use the cruise lines... u know, Save a few bucks.
They were robbed and left without transport back to the ship.
So, regardless of what any potential current political situation is/isn't one should always be cautious in any cruise port.
Mexico has been on the State Dept warning list for a while.

Not all of Mexico. Someone posted the link earlier. The state of Quintana Roo is not included. Cozumel is part of that state. It is very important for people to realize that. It only promotes the hysteria otherwise.

Is Quintana Roo where Americans were allegedly targeted on the beaches? There were some scary stories a while back.

He seems to like it a lot. I think he mentioned something about a woodsy taste...like it had been in the barrel for a long time.

I am not a tequila drinker...I get quite mean when I drink that. Which is never good for anyone.

No, no, no. I didn't mean this thread is creating hysteria. It's a very nice conversation. In the past, there have been situations in the news that does create hysteria. Sorry if my post was not clear.

There's always problems in Mexico in one way or another. If it's not safe, DCL won't go there. It has never stopped us from getting off in a port. We were in Europe when there were protests and gatherings years ago and we never saw any of it and didn't feel unsafe. If it is going to worry you, I would personally take a different itinerary. You are paying port fees and taxes and if you aren't getting off it might be money wasted that you could use on a different itinerary with ports you might enjoy more.

Mexico has always been a hot mess. The drug cartels pretty much run the country. Just stick to the tourist areas and don't do anything to get arrested. They are very dependent on tourism so they try to keep those areas safe. Cozumel and Cabo are very safe and have wonderful beaches. It's mostly the inland cities where the trouble is.
I don't think the exteme vetting of people from a few Middle East countries is going to effect Mexico. I live in Arizona and their are no tensions here between Hispanics and non hispanics we all get along just fine.
