I did online check in via the app for our upcoming stay next week. It says it will charge the card on file the remaining balance due at arrival. My husband wants to pay the balance in cash, is this possible or are they going to charge the card before we have a chance to pay in cash? I called & the rep told me they wouldn’t but since I had elected to skip check in nervous

In our experience they charge the card on file around 7-8AM on check in day. They can reverse it and then pay cash, but it will most likely be charged before you arrive.

Even if you do online check in to get the room text, you can still go to the front desk when you arrive to ask about Payment options. I just looked back at my stay in December (which was not prepaid in advance) and I got an alert email that the charge for the room was approved, and the email came in at 1:35 on check in day, so they did charge (or at least authorize) the amount before I arrived.

The card on file will be charged at the beginning of the business day (early morning). It can be reversed and then you pay the balance with cash. You'll have to go to the front desk upon arrival and take care of it. Or deposit the cash and use it to pay off the credit card.

Your balance will be charged once their system rolls over for that day (very early in the morning). We always buy discounted Disney GCs and use them to pay the room off before check-in day to save us this headache, and yes reversing it can be a headache if you do not get a good CM at the front counter. Yes I have a "they messed up" story:( We also use our GCs every couple of days to payoff the room charges we have, to try and keep everything off our CC.

Doing online check-in doesn't mean you have to skip the desk at the resort. You can always go to the desk and ask questions, make changes, etc.

You may end up at the desk anyway. Some guests who check in online get their room number sent to their phone, but not all guests.

Agree with buzznina. If you have the cash anyway, buy Disney gift cards and use them to pay off the room BEFORE you leave home. You can combine disney gift cards online at disneygiftcard.com so you would only have to give the phone rep a few card numbers.

And you can get a slight break on gift cards if you have a Target red cc or belong to Sam’s Club.
