Skipper Canteen

Because I want to get easy reservations!

But I agree, it's probably my favorite table service in Magic Kingdom. It's usually easy to get a walk-up, I like the theming in every room, and the food is interesting without being too out there to go on rides later.

Love Skippers for the appetizer (now called) Cachapas. Got addicted to that dish when they called it Arepas (changed a little since called this). Perfect lunch with Iced Tea.

Look forward to it every trip and we go at least 3 times a year. We always tell the server "No jokes please" and they are happy to oblige.

We tried that dish. Good stuff!

Our favorite in MK! It's a must-do every time. That and Sanaa (not that they're on the same level, just two places we love so much)

Another fan of this place. The food is good, the waitstaff is fun, the decorations/theming is interesting if you took the time to actually look around. Personally I think it's one of the more reasonably-priced table service restaurants in the parks.

We really like Skipper Canteen. We're both vegan, and there's a nice selection of items to choose from. I usually get the falafel and a couple of side dishes of veggies.

We don't really like the big room, so now we just ask to be seated in one of the smaller rooms and tell the people checking us in that we're willing to wait. It's never been a problem. In fact, once we got the butterfly table, even though we didn't ask for it and in fact didn't know about it!
Is the falafel at all spicy? My heat tolerance is a 0- I don’t like black table pepper, chili pepper, crushed red pepper, cumin, nothing. And I’m vegan. I’ve been wanting to try Skipper’s but the few vegan options all sound like they are definitely or possibly spicy.

I certainly wouldn’t rave about it or claim that the food is fantastic but it’s become a tradition on my last MK day. The variety on the menu is welcome at the end of a trip and the cold Stella seals the deal for me.

By the way I almost have never had a server not make some attempt at humor. I can remember having a few that were actually cracking me up. 😚

I find the menu the last few years very limited.

For entrees, looking at the menu today I see

- 1 beef offering (Hangar Steak)
- 1 fish offering (Sustainable)
- 1 chicken offering (Tastes Like)
- 1 lamb offering (lamb chops - different, I'll grant that)
- 2 pork offerings (Hardy Har Har and Dan Dan Noodles)
- 1 vegetarian offering (stew)

And having eaten there a few times, I find the portion sizes small. I leave still hungry but the staff interaction is fine and I like the decorating having eaten in the big room and library each more than once.

I for one would like to see one more beef offering and one more chicken offering.

That's my opinion, since you asked.

Bama Ed

PS - or at least some variation. How long has 'Tastes Like Chicken' been on the menu? If there is only going to be ONE chicken dish, at least change it out once in a while.

I respectfully disagree that the Taste Like Chicken dish should change from time to time. It is my favorite thing on the menu and I would not like to see it change out. Add a chicken dish but don't take away the main chicken dish. :-)
