We got in for a quick lunch! It feels like ToT and Jungle Cruise mixed together....

What time did you get there to get a seat for lunch?
So I was still on my shift until about 12 but my friends came in to the park and I was meeting up with them. She said she was getting a bite to eat and I said I wished Canteen would open and she texted me that they were having a soft opening, and they got their name on the list. I think we were seated no longer than 20-30 mins tops, I know they had already seated by the time I changed, ran to lost and found (thanks whomever turned in my honey's wallet from DAK yesterday) and caught the ferry. They were already seated by then. I think a lot of people may not have known it opened today. I expect it to be a mob next week....?
It was fun! Interesting menu! Loved the GF Falafels and got the Congee Pudding, finally a GF bread pudding. (They make them all that way.) It wasn't too sweet, just perfect.

Definitely would describe as very interesting food. Hope you guys are all feeling adventurous! Skippers are all cute and fun and punny of course but the decor is more upscale and not like Trader Sam's (but it is well themed and nice.)

So, is lunch "quick service" like BOG, or is it all table service?

As it is right now, its definitely table service with perky wait staff Skippers and all. The way the current menu is, it couldn't be quick service. However, part of me wonders if another side will open that IS quick service, or was that just rumor? I can't remember. Either way, I would say the decor and music feels like a sort 1910s style Tower of Terror (antiques etc minus creepy cobwebs) with the dining feel of Kona Cafe with a menu not too far off from Sana'a (at least what we tried...) Not exactly the same, but elements of those...

I love food. I will eat anything pretty much but from the pics on all ears it just doesn't look good. I really wish hey did like bog and did a lunch menu and then dinner menu. The only thing I'm seeing I would like would be the noodle bowl. I just expected more for this place. But I'm sure it will be packed 24/7.

Kinda surprised this doesn't show up on the MDE website yet. I wonder if they're seeing how it does without ADRs...

It's only a soft opening right now. You aren't able to make reservations for it quite yet.

LOTS of info and pictures here ... http://www.**************.net/2015/...oft-opens-at-walt-disney-world-magic-kingdom/

I had a good time, although I wanted to shout "The hippos are in the trees! TWO SHOTS OF RUM!" but it wasn't the right place or atmosphere lol. So other than being a bit quiet for my tastes (at least compared to Trader Sams), our Skipper was cute, she was working out her lines. She did a few from the Jungle Cruise (you know what you get when you order water, yay!! and also the typical 'i'm sorry, that was rude' way to end the experience. You know what I mean!' Also, we made a comment about a wall decor that was shaped like an OX head and a skipper, who was walking by, not even our Skipper, piped up with a great pun as well. I think timing is everything, as is putting yourself out there.

Some of the dishes smelled REALLY FISHY! Don't know which one, and I love fish, but it was like whoa! Some smell really spicey in an herby way but aren't hot to eat.

Like I said, bring your sense of culinary adventure...

I just read multiple places that this restaurant will not be accepting ADR'S....I was really hoping to snag one for my next trip, but it's walk up only and you get a text when your table is ready.

Was hoping to see it a little more Adventurers Club themed, but not bad looking. The menu isn't that interesting IMO, but that's ok. I was really hoping that the Kungaloosh listed was the same Kungaloosh from the Adventurers Club, but sadly no.
