Skipper canteen question

I was just wondering if anyone knows why it isn't showing up as a restaurant on the Disney website for MK. I thought it was maybe because they had it opened for a test phase but it hadn't had it's official opening but I thought I read they were going to do that in January. Does anyone know any info on it and if there is any more word on whether they are going to do ADR or just leave it as a walk up for awhile? I ask because we are going in June and really want to eat there and I keep checking back every few days and it isn't on the MK list of restaurants so was wondering what was up.

TIA

It's only walk-ups for now. They haven't announced when and if it will be added to the ADR system.

Unless the test fails, they don't plan to add it to the ADR system.
Now, the test isn't going well so far but so far, they aren't ready to punt and add it to ADR either.

Thanks Angi. What is weird is it is not listed as a restaurant under the MK. Weird!

It is completely weird that it doesn't appear in Disney Dining. No wonder the restaurant is doing poorly. How are people supposed to know about it if it isn't even listed on the website?

It's listed as Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen. Here's the link: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/dining/magic-kingdom/jungle-navigation-skipper-canteen/

As for the restaurant itself, they aren't currently taking ADRs and there are no plans for them to do so in the future as yet (I, for one, am glad that it can be a spontaneous choice). There are a few reviews on these pages, and based on what I've read, the disappointed comments easily outnumber the acclaim by others. Our experience falls squarely in between the two camps. In short, we found the food unique but not well-seasoned as the spices and herbs were woefully underused. Additionally, the "signature" pork dish was dry, and my shu mai (essentially potstickers) were gummy with the accompanying sauce the lone exception to the poorly seasoned comment--except it was extremely salty to the point of being inedible. Service was good. Prices were in line for a unique Disney, in-park TS restaurant except the food quality didn't match the cost making it seem expensive. Overall, we were underwhelmed, though we weren't totally dissatisfied. There is good potential here, but as I've said elsewhere, the exec chef needs to either go all in with the unique flavor profiles or go back to safer dishes. Whichever course, the food simply needs to be better.

Thanks for the info. Hmmm well maybe I don't want to go there LOL. Honestly I just wanted to go for the experience but I can't stomach paying that much for lousy food no matter HOW good the ambiance LOL. I appreciate the honest remarks and I guess I am glad there are no ADRS so maybe we can just wait and see. Thanks!!

If you haven't tried it yet, and you would like more of an experience, I would head over to Poly and go to Trader Sam's. Food and drinks are good and it's pretty darn cool!

I have tried the Trader Sam's at Disneyland. Wonder how similiar they are. We do love it though and LOVE the jungle cruise so that was honestly the main reason we wanted to try it but as I said if they food is only so so I don't know that I would want to spend those prices. But thanks we will check it out! :)
