Skip Epcot Showcase?

I'm going to WDW for the first time and staying 7 nights. I have a 3 year old, 2 year old, My wife, and My mother.

I was thinking about skipping Epcott Showcase since MK seems to have much more things my daughters would enjoy...

What are your opinions?

Are you talking about the park--or just the showcase.

If you are going to EPCOT--don't miss the showcase. Food, entertainment, and the kidcot stops--my girls have been going for a bit and they are only 5 and 3 (the 5 year old first went as a babe or a toddler, I don't remember).

If you are bypassing EPCOT all together--it is up to you. I would suspect that you may have parkhopping passes. If that were the case--there is no harm stopping by and checking it out. I'd be concerned with 7 days straight at MK.

MGM has Bear in the big blue house and ariel and Animal Kingdom is just fun with all the wild life.

If it were my trip--we may go light on a park, but on a 7 day trip we would hit them all. My girls have been going since age 11 months and 4 months and they have their own things they like in each park.

While your girls may not be in awe like riding on Winnie the Pooh---I'm of the philosophy that any place is suitable for kids of all ages, just have to know where to look.

They have character meet and greets all over (wayyyyy more than when I was a kid) at EPCOT...so Disney has somewhat figured out a way to make EPCOT tot-friendly. :)

Enjoy your trip whatever you decide :).

:confused3 Since EPCOT is my favorite park, it is hard for me to imagine a trip without it. I personally would recommend the park for you and your family. Your kids will love coloring the masks and there is so much to see. Even if it is crowded, you will not notice is as much since there is so much more area for the people to move around in. Also, remember this is a trip for you, your wife and mother. I would do Epcot when the crowds get to crazy at MK.

Have a great trip!

And, if you do go, make sure you take your kids to see the lady in Japan who makes the candy animals. It is one of the best parts of Epcot!!!

Forgot to ask--what time of year are you going? Different times they have stuff going on that make it extra special :)

My kids are about the same ages as yours and I definitely wouldn't skip Epcot altogether.

The Living Seas Pavillion has a great new Nemo display that your kids will probably enjoy. I know my kids go gaga over the clown fish at our local zoo, so I think the interactive Crush will be a huge hit.

We went in 2003 when DD was 18 months old and she was actually pretty interested the different countries and she liked playing the computer games and stuff at Innoventions. They had a Beatles type group oplaying music in the British pavillion and she had a blast dancing. She enjoyed all the rides she was able to ride (obviously Test Track and Mission Space were out). It was also F & W festival while we wre there and she liked the snacks! :teeth:

I think you will probably spend the most time at MK (we do), but we hit every park in a weeks time. What we skip right now with small children is the water parks and Disney Quest. As they get older, I'm sure we'll want to more of that stuff too.

I wouldn't skip Epcot either. We have taken our two yr old to many of the attractions there. He loves the Living Seas, which has Turtle Talk with Crush, Spaceship Earth (ok this is a nap ride, lol), Living with the Land, Maelstrom (Norway), El Rio del Tiempo (Mexico). Also don't miss the Character Caravan - check the park guide for times and locations. He also loves loves loves the Illuminations show - definitely not to be missed, if your kids can stay up late enough for it.

I was planning on splitting Future World and Show case into 2 half days and one of those days I was coming back for Illuminations. I just wasn't sure if Showcase is worth the time...I know they have kidcot but what else for the kids?

I am definately doing Futureworld and Illuminations.

character visits...

China has the kid acrobats

My girls love window shopping, the toy store in UK.

The train display is a hit (forget which country).

But our family loves all this stuff.

This was our plan also! We did future world on one day, Unfortunatly, we didn't make it back to do the World Showcase. I was a bit disappointed, but we really wanted to make this trip as laid back as possible, and the night we had planned for this, we decided at the last minute, we wanted to just stay and enjoy the pool and have an early night. (Daddy was tired and grumpy ;) )

I would keep an open mind, if you have the time and you want to go check it out, then go for it!
