My DD is 10 and I wanted to take her to the clinque counter at Macy's or somewhere to get her their 3 step cleansing system.

I was always very lucky and have good skin. Thankfully because I don't do much, didn't know to do much. I use bar soap and that is it. I want to teach her better practices and get her in the habit now. I'm thinking if it comes from a "make up expert" she'll believe it better.

Does Macy's do this? I know they apply makeup but will they show her about washing her face? I don't want make up yet at all. Or is there some place better? Ulta? Sephora?

My mom took me to a Clinque counter when I was a teen to get me the facial cleansing stuff. They talked about which number was best and how to use it and everything. I was a little older and having acne issues.

One thing I might suggest is the vibrating cleanser things they have now... I have a Clarisonic, which is pretty expensive, but I think Clean and Clear and/or Neutrogena has one. They're basically like a mechanical toothbrush for your face and makes it easy and somewhat fun to wash your face :lmao: I think you can use whatever cleanser you want with most of them (you can with Clarisonic) and I find they really work... but it might be nice for your DD.

Yes, I took my Dd(13) to the Clinique counter at Macys last year. They taught her about proper skincare. Just the basics, and shes been taking care of her skin since!

Have you thought about Cetaphil? It is very highly recommended by dermatologists. It would be a little bit more of a do-it-yourself path, but if you go to www.cetaphil.com they have a skin care club with advice, tips, and significant resources on skin care (some coupons too).

I just went throught this with my 11 yo daughter. Her face broke out something awful over the summer. I decided to try the Wal -Mar 3 step skin care regimen. It was only $11.00 and figured I wasn't out much if it didn't work. Her face cleared up almost completely (she still gets a few random pimples around her hairline). Last month on our trip to Disney she left her products at home and she developed quite a few blemishes by the time we got home. Needless to say she went right back to the cleansing routine. Give it try.
