Ok so I am just about to go with Paradise palms ..when I get a late trickling in from lastminutevillas.com. Its seasonsorlando.com and it looks like a very nice place. But..I have no idea where it is. It looked like it was near Bellavida on the map which I think I recall someone saying it was a little sketchy around there?

To me if it has palm trees..I m not sure how it can be sketchy ..:lmao: But I do want to make sure I choose the best area for my family since I have no clue whatsoever.. I mean usually I am in the Disney bubble.

So what are the sketchy areas if any?

The further East you go on 192 from I-4 it does get a bit sketchy. The area is not overly desirable. Also.. Getting to the parks does take awhile in traffic. 192 can get pretty congested.

Out of curiosity, you say stay away from places ON 192, but what about off 192 like Windsor Hills, etc? We've always stayed in that vicinity when we rent homes off site and never had a problem. I'll admit we liked Paradise Palms online but weren't crazy about the location when we scoped it out last trip.

We always stay west of Disney just off 192 in various subdivisions in the area. I don't find it to be any different than the Lake Buena Vista area. There's lots of new restaurants and shopping opening on this section of 192. :confused3

I agree. We stayed in Windsor Hills which is located off of the western end of 192 and we did not find it to be a "sketchy" area at all. The drive to the Disney parks from here is quick and easy and we encountered little to no traffic. This part of 192 is very close to the Animal Kingdom Lodge and park area and our drive to AK park was 7-8 minutes max from Sherberth Road.

I LOVE the Sherberth Road shortcut. I don't know how we lived without it. At least now it's easy to navigate compared to when we first found it. :-)

If you head a few miles East of I-4, the area is very run down. That is well East of Windsor Hills, Formosa Gardens, Sherbeth Rd. etc.

East of 535 on 192 is where it really starts getting run down, don't consider staying anywhere east of 535,there's actually probably not many places left to stay anyways, probably only a handful of old run down roach motels.West of 535 it gets better but there's still a lot of properties that are still pretty old so some areas are not that nice. One thing for sure is that they have built a lot of new restaurants and businesses on 192 west of Disney reaching US 27.I still rather stay in the Lake Buena Vista or International Drive area but I'll stay in certain properties I'm familiar with on 192.They've actually just opened an Embassy Suites right on the west side of 535 on 192,what I consider to be the cutoff street so maybe this brand spanking new hotel that's considered one of the best brands out there will help and bring new hotels to the area and improve it.
