Sketches at the GF

I was told there is somewhere at the GF where you can order sketches. Does anyone have any additional info. about this? How much are they? How long does it take to get them? Where in the GF do you go to get these?

I think all of the deluxe resorts have artists sitting in the lobby to do portraits for you. When we stayed at VWL last Christmas it was characatours (sp??) though. At the GF and BC I know it is real, beautiful pastel sketches. A friend of mine had both of her kids done at BC and the pictures are gorgeous!! I don't remember what she paid, it was pretty pricey I think, and that was a few years ago. When we went to eat at the BC in December the artist was doing somebody's dog, a Golden, and was obviously working from photos (the dog was not there!!) Sorry I can't help more. I know the artists are just sitting in the lobby, but I am sure they work certain hours, and I am not sure of the cost or how long you actually have to "sit." Maybe call the hotel and ask if no one else answers here??? I have always wanted to do this with my kids, just wonder if someone local would be cheaper???

The GF has an artist who does portrait sketches in pastels. They are set up in the rear of the lobby/1st floor. I think there are 2 artists who rotate - DH seems to recall that they were husband and wife but I don't remember that. I do remember the artist being very nice and good with the kids in terms of having them sit and look a certain way. We had it done 2 years ago and they were able to put all 4 kids on one - each child had to sit for about 15 min. They have some samples of their work hanging up so you can see. I can't recall the exact cost. Other resorts have caricature artists but I think GF is the only place I've seen actual portraits being done. Ours came out very nice with good likenesses of the kids and quality of the work- it's hanging in our bedroom.

Now that I think about it, I like the one we have so much that next year we may stay at BC and if there is someone doing it there I would even consider having it done again with the kids now a few years older.

I don't know anything about the sketches, but I am very curious if anyone knows how much they cost. This would be a wonderful keepsake for me of our trip. Thanks for posting this question...otherwise I would never have known they exist!

We had our DS & DD done in 2003 @ Beach Club. The artists name there is Echo (that's right Echo ). She worked from both a photo and with each child sitting for her. She was pretty fast, it seems like it took about 45 minutes per child. I want to think it's about $100 per portrait, we had 1 of each done. She also offers framing, I don't know the price of that. You could probably call the hotel and see if they could get you more info. You do need to make an appointment.
