Skating rink songs?

I swear they played nothin but Bon Jovi in my skating days! We had a screen that would come down in the middle. For a few songs they would show the video too. I remember Livin on a Prayer CONSTANTLY playing. Good thing I loved Bon Jovi.

I remember skating to a lot of Bon Jovi, too.

"Don't you want me baby! Don't you want me - oh-oh-oh-oh!" :teeth:

I seem to remember quite a bit of ABBA as well.

Karma Chameleon - Culture Club
Thriller - Michael Jackson
What a Feeling - Irene Cara (song from Flashdance)

First song that comes to mind! Also Toto - Hold The Line. :)
I loved skating!

Aaahh Freak out!
Le Freak, C'est Chic
Freak out!

Le Freak, C'est Chic

Le Freak, C'est Chic

VHI has been playing the top 00 one hit wonders of all time and most of the songs are roller rink songs!

"We Built This City" and "Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Starship
"Beat It"
"Fame"

Oh my goodness!!!

JUMP by Van Halen...and of course, we always jumped when they said it...I was such a geek!!!

Ah...good memories! When my husband and I hear an Air Supply song or something along those lines, we say (in our best roller rink announcer voice) "couple skate, couple skate."

Main Street by Bob Seager...

The skate guard always requested it for the couple's skate whenever he had his eye on some girl. Every girl wanted to be the one.....

Thinking back now, he wasn't so great. What made him think he was so great? He was actually kind of dweeby.

(yeah, you guessed it...I was never "the one") But I've moved on:rotfl:

For some stupid reason--I have no idea why, but the first song that came to mind was "After the Lovin" They played this a LOT:upsidedow

So I sing you to sleep
After the lovin'
With a song I just wrote yesterday
And I hope you can hear
What the words and the music have to say.

Also Rockin Robin, and S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y night

Push it
Supersonic

We must be about the same age because I remember these songs vividly. Another song that always screams skating rink to me is "Let the music play." I also remember a lot of Bel Biv Devoe and Color me bad. Oh, the shame!:rotfl:

The first one that comes to mind for me is Locomotion. :hippie:

Now that you can do it, let's make a chain now.
Come on baby - do the locomotion. :dance3:

oh boy, does this take me back, LOL....funkytown (this one played a LOT), le freak, good times, celebration, boogie wonderland...i'm sure there are more, but man, that was a LONG time ago, lol.

I remember Stroke (can't remember,,its on the tip of my tongue), Highway to Hell, I love Rock and Roll (Joan Jett) plus they always did the Hokey Pokey and the Chicken Dance. The last time I was at my hometown rink, they played all of these (been about 5 yrs). which they played when I went as a kid.

I'm taking the kids skating Sun. for dd's bday, I'll have to listen to the music.

There's a 60s/70s radio station here that I love to listen to (Platinum 96.7 for you DFWers), and I've noticed lately that they play that song frequently. It has to be one of the cheesiest songs ever :rotfl:.

The Stroke is by Billy Squier, but I bet someone beats me to posting that. . .

Hungry Eyes
Eternal Flame
Up Where We Belong
She's Like the Wind
Time of My Life
Debbie Gibson
Tiffany
Heart of Glass
Total Eclipse of My Heart
Funkytown
Hokey Pokey

The big "couples skate" song was Reo Speedwagon's "Keep on Lovin' You". I also fondly remember, "We Got the Beat" by the Go-Gos.

When my DD's were skating it seemd like Blondies "Oh Mickey You're So Fine" was the fan favorite.

I grew up skating to mainly organ music.

Ballroom Blitz for the guys only skate.

My skating period was from 74 thru 81 or 82. I was go glad when I turned 18 and could go to the Adult only skate on Sunday nights. Went occassionally on Saturday nights. Went alot of time on Saturday mornings especially when I was in Junior high. That's when I really got into skating.
