Ok, so when I was early teens, skating rinks were soo popular. What songs bring you back to when you were skating at the rink??

I think of
Lost in your eyes - Debbie Gibson
I think we're alone now - Tiffany
Paradise City - GNR
When the children cry - White Lion
Pour Some sugar on me and Love Bites - Def Leppard
Shake it - MC SHY D

Couple Skates were the high-lite of the night....lol, oh if only teens were that easily pleased now-a-days

Walk Like an Egyptian, Can't touch this,
...............

It's funny that I can't think of them cuz I just went skating Friday night and they played pretty much all the same songs still.

I think I must be a little bit older than you guys because the song I remember most from my skating rink days was Funkytown

Skating was my life as a teen - "highway to hell" by AC/DC was a popular request. Can't remember the pop songs, but when I do hear them, it brings me right back to those days. :)

Planet rock-Afrika Bambaataa and the Soul Sonic Force
Play at your own risk-Planet Patrol
The message-Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five
Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll - Vaughan Mason & Crew

Pretty much any R & B and rap from '78-'86:cool1:

Don't know the name..

...playing with the queen of hearts,

Hit me with your best shot

Another older skater here! :)

On the Radio by Donna Summer
Good Times by Chic
Think of Laura (from General Hospital) by Christopher Cross for the Couples' Skate

Wow, I AM as old as the kids think I am! :lmao:

Lots of songs by Prince. The DJ even had the purple Purple Rain record and he wore it out! I skated in the early to mid-80s, so I didn't hear a lot of the hair band stuff. It was the OLD rap music and stuff like Funkytown. Oh, and the Fat Boys! LOL! Anyone else remember Wipeout? There was Grandmaster Flash and also Double Dutch Bus and the Gap Band's You Dropped a Bomb On Me. And the couples skate songs always included Endless Love. My favorite was always the Hokey Pokey!

Ours ALWAYS played YMCA, a lot of Michael Jackson, and then we always did the Hokey Pokey and the Chicken Dance for free stuff! In 5th grade it was always cool to have a "Panda Party" at the skating rink, don't know what it meant, and my friends always wanted Guns N' Roses played...

The Hustle, Funkytown & YMCA...this was early 80's...

I swear they played nothin but Bon Jovi in my skating days! We had a screen that would come down in the middle. For a few songs they would show the video too. I remember Livin on a Prayer CONSTANTLY playing. Good thing I loved Bon Jovi.

"Blue Velvet" - I'm not that old, but the skating rink owner in my hometown was, and he often would play this song. He'd skate with his wife to it, and hearing it always takes me back to that old skating rink.

"Ring my Bell" - Anita Ward

Most Bee Gees, Andy Gibb, and Village People songs

"Open Arms" - Journey

The Hokey Pokey song

The Limbo song

There are some Paula Abdul and NKOTB songs that remind me of when I worked at a skating rink right after high school. I wasn't really into that type of pop music by that point in my life, so I only became familiar with them because of that job.

what a funny thread!!
I don't even remember the names or who sung the songs, but recently at the Chiropractors office they had an 80's station on and every other song was a *roller rink* song.
It brought me right back to my teen years!!

then it dawned on my my oldest dd is 15 and that scared me to think of the stuff I was doing at 15!!!!

If you skated in the late 70's, early 80's, go to Target. It's called 70's roller disco. And every song on there I spent hours skating to.

Saturday Night - Bay City Rollers
Crocodile Rock - Elton John
Don’t Bring Me Down - Electric Light Orchestra
Love Rollercoaster - Ohio Players
September - Earth, Wind & Fire
Boogie Shoes - KC & the Sunshine Band
You Make Me Feel Like Dancing - Leo Sayer
Rock the Boat - The Hues Corporation
Lido Shuffle - Boz Scaggs
Best of My Love - The Emotions
T.S.O.P. (The Sound Of Philadelphia) - MFSB
Boogie Nights - Heatwave
That Lady (Part 1 & 2) - The Isley Brothers
Ain’t No Stoppin’ Us Now - McFadden & Whitehead
Let it Whip - Dazz Band
Let’s Groove - Earth, Wind & Fire
Love Train - The O’Jays

One of my all time favorites - Double Dutch Bus.

I was a 70's skater.........most vividly I remember skating to "one tin soldier" and "The lion sleeps". I think we also literally skated to canned organ music!
