This is really embarrassing but my friend wants me to meet him at Universal this Sunday. I am afraid to go, since I am overweight. I wear a size 18W or 20 pants and an XL or 1X shirt. Will I fit on the rides? I don't want to have to try the test seat, because I don't think my ego would survive. Thanks!

Don't stay away because you are overweight!

Don't be afraid to try the test seats...that's what they're there for. You'll never see any of those people again. Whether you fit depends on how you wear your weight. Some people have it in their chests or hips which may or may not allow you ride. But if you don't try the test seats and then get up to the loading area and then get turned away, that would be worse for you.

Just go with the flow and have a good time!

Go to the park. I'm not small and I fit on every ride and I've seen chunkier people than me fit well enough. Just avoid wearing clothes that make you bigger. I found that in cooler weather, wearing a fleece hoodie was enough to noticeably tighten the seats.

Yup, don't wear denim shorts. Wear lightweight and stretchy clothes that will let your shape conform to the seats.

I'm 5'3" and was those sizes a year and a half ago. Actually I was a 20W in pants, and squeezing into those. And I fit on Forbidden Journey just fine. Was sent automatically to the end seats, but that's OK.

I'm sure I would have fit on the bigger rides, too. I didn't, because I didn't want to go and DS wasn't tall enough yet to go. Oh wait I rode the Mummy and it was fine.

I personally think the sizes you're in now are generally OK for Universal. It's just when you start going above them that things get harder to predict.

don't be afraid of the test seats! the seats are there to help you, and no one is paying attention to you. (and if they are noticing you, then they are scum and not worth you wanting them to like you, anyway)

I wear the same size and have never had a problem fitting on any ride. Heading out for trip 5 in a littlr over a week

Just an update. We went to Universal Studios. I fit on everything fine except for Mummy. I tried the test seat and it was right on the edge. It said the bar had to completely clear the red line and it was exactly on the two lines, so I didn't go. I may have fit but didn't want to get turned away at the last minute. It would have been better if it had a beep like the test seat at the roller coaster. If your thighs are bigger, you will not fit on the Mummy. Would I have been ok in the last row?
