Size of SSR Pool

I wonder if anybody else has studied any of the pool construction photos and thought that the size of the pool looked smaller than imagined. It's probably very hard to tell size from photos, but I think I expected a very large main pool. Again, it's hard to tell from photos and maybe the entire pool can't be seen in any one particular photo. Anyone else think it looks small? (or know that it is actually larger than it appears?)

I had always suspected it would be on par with OKW (in terms of size) but certainly nothing comparable to SAB.

I always thought it looked small. SSR is a pretty large resort and the pool doesn't look like it is big enough. But, as you mention, it is tough to determine how large it is based on the photos. I think we just have to wait until it opens to know for sure.

I think that because the pool is surrounded by buildings that it makes it look more closed in.

i agree, i was comparing it to the one at the animal kingdom lodge.. sure doesn't look as big as that one!!! that is what i had pictured in me head!!

Hmmm...if the property map in the DVC info is to scale...it looks like a good sized pool. I'll admit that after viewing the photos it doesn't look terribly large when you consider the size of the resort. There are two quiet pools, though.

An issue of the Member Clubhouse had the total square footage at roughly 6400. Thus, if the pool were square, it would be about 80x80'

If memory serves, it actually has more of an oblong shape, so it will be much longer in some areas and smaller in others.

That sounds like a pretty good size to me. I don't have dimensions on the other pools, but like I said, I think it will be very comparable to the OKW main pool. Add in the slide, childrens' play area (another 300 sq ft with fountains), two whirlpools and a bar, and the entire pool complex will be very impressive.

But I think anyone anticipating SAB II will be disappointed.

What pictures are you looking at that have caused you concern?

Overall, I really hope it is *not* like SAB! I am hoping for something a bit more laid back -- something that can be enjoyed by folks other than just the water park crowd.

But I certainly don't think that it looks tiny in the plans that I have seen.

I'll be at AKL for a couple days right before moving to SSR on opening day so I can make a direct comparison for you.

My guess is that it will be similar in size to the WL pool. As mentioned, it is only one of several pools.

If memory serves me right, I was looking at Doc's photos that were posted a couple of months ago, I think. (all really great pictures!)

I wouldn't say I was overly concerned. Just commenting. I definitely don't expect anything like SAB, and I wouldn't really want that anyway. I'd get lost. I was just wondering about it since SSR is going to be so large and hoping that everyone who wants to use the feature pool will fit!

But like everyone said, this probably is a sufficient size. I've never seen OKW's pool.
