How do the sizes of the rooms at SSR compare to the ones at OKW or BCV/BWV.

We have stayed in a Studio, 1 bedroom, and 2 bedroom at OKW many times and they all feel very large. We have stayed in a 2 bedroom at both BCV and BWV and they feel a little cramped.

What are the ones at SSR like.

We stayed in an SSR studio and one-bedroom in August. Sizes are comparable to BCV and BWV. They are not as large as OKW.

We have stayed at all the WDW DVC resorts now. On our last trip, we stayed at BCV, BWV, and SSR. In our most humble opinions, yes, the rooms are comparable to BCV, BWV, and VWL (but NOT OKW, obviously). HOWEVER -- it's the layout that really gives you that final impression. While the actual space seemed comparable to BWV in our 1BR, we immediately noticed the lack of closet space! Very shallow in the master BR-- and no entry closet at all. Also, in storage space. THe master bath had precious little (compared to BWV, which I thought had less than say, VWL, and certainly OKW). The bathroom sink counter was "cut-away", which left just a tiny ledge to perch things on my "side" (nearest the closet). We also thought the bathroom area "seemed" smaller because of all those DOORS and the positioning of things. At SSR, the toilet was in separate space behind its own door; at BWV, the toilet and shower and sink were all in one seemingly much larger, open space. I found the open area at BWV amusing -- like, what was I supposed to do there, dance? Personally, I liked having the toilet separate at SSR, but the 2 doors leading in/out of the shower/sink area were a nuisance. THe BWV bathroom always made me nervous... all that space as I noted before, plus, you're technically facing right towards the door to the living room, so if you aren't careful to lock those doors, and your kid decides to open it up while you're striking the toilet pose -- well, there ya are. Yikes.

Anyway -- SSR is probably comparable to most of the WDW DVC properties as best we can tell (BCV, BWV, VWL), but OKW stays in a catagory all its own.

I agree with the points made above about the bathroom layout at SSR. The other thing about the doors (bathroom, water closet, and shower doors) is that we couldn't open some doors when other doors were open. At times we felt like we were playing musical doors to get everyone in and out of where they needed to be. The water closet for the toilet was just one more door to deal with.

The other area we felt a bit more cramped compared to the BWV 1BR was the dining table. At BWV, it was a small round table with two chairs but at SSR there is a larger table with a bench seat which made that area between the table and kitchen seem a bit more cramped. However, love having the desk in the bedroom at SSR for setting up the laptop.

Thanks for the info !!!

I was hoping that being stand alone building at SSR that they room sizes may have grown a little.

I guess we will just have to get use to smaller rooms.

Now, if I can only keep the kids from growing :)

DVC will never again build rooms as big as OKW because they don't have to. People are still buying those tiny rooms so why would they spend the $$$.

I hear a faint echo of someone else's voice in this post ....

Hi
We have just come back from SSR and had a two bedroom, we have stayed all other locations and if you are looking for size I would go for OKW. There were 6 of us (adults in the two bedroom and we only had one sofa it was a little cramped we could not all sit in chatting in the evenings. I have also found this at BCV and BWV. While we were there we viewed the grand villa at SSR and this also only had the one sofa. OKW is definatley the best if you want space. Saying that if you want a studio I would go for anything but OKW as they are very cramped compared to SSR BCV and BWV.

Hope this helps

We thought the drawers in the master bathroom were extremely short with the cutouts. I'm trying to remember, does BCV also have the cutaways or is it VWL? I remember that one is fullsized and not cutaway. That's the one I like.

Well, in the DVC spirit of less-is-more, just think chronologically: it's VWL with the full-size drawers, followed by BCV with that storage-sapping cut-out counter in the MB. They stayed with the trend in SSR (and did away with closet depth while they were at it!)

I also thought the kitchen cabinet depth was shallower with each new DVC built, but I can't tell that as easily from a picture. So if anybody should happen to pack a ruler on their next trip... or maybe just take a standard box of Cheerios and gauge at each resort how far it sticks out of the cabinet shelf?!)

I think it was a mistake to use the same size rooms as bwv/bnv/vwl at ssr.

The reason I say that is because those resorts are more "hotel" style, with easy access to parks. SSR is built more "condo" style like OKW, it seems to me. When it is built out, it will be really sprawling, you'll have to take an internal bus to get around, like at OKW. So if I'm going to be in a spread out place, I'd like a trade-off. The rooms are so nice and big at okw.

I think the studios at OKW are the biggest, to me. I think the thing is, OKW is the only place you can get two beds in a studio. So for some parties, that is a very good thing -we can put our Aunt and mother in law in one studio, and one isn't stuck on the sofa.
