During our last stay at VWL we found the CFL bulbs in the lights were way too dim and it made it difficult to even read a book. I was planning to bring bulbs from home to swap out during our next stay, but I cannot find the paper where I wrote down the base sizes and the wattages. Does anyone have this information? TIA

Not a good idea. Why not just bring a book light with you if you want brighter light to read?

Op, I agree, those bulbs are just not bright enough. I know in the kitchen, when I cook, I find I could use about 100 more watts!

Sorry I don't know the info you asked for. But hopefully we will find out!

They are going to be standard base size, and if you bring a standard type bulb then bring a 75W to be safe. Better yet, bring your own CFL rated for light equivalent to a 100W as it will use less than 25W of power and be perfectly safe.

Had the same problem at SSR last week. Lamp on wife's side was CFL and bright enough, but on my side they used a dim one, and it was hard to read.

The newer CFLs are much better that the older ones for light or lumen output. Unfortunately Disney knew the value of changing out incandescents to CFLs years ago and so most bulbs are not the newest technology. And since these bulbs use 75% less energy than incandescent bulbs and last for 7 years (if you use them around 4 hours per day), we may have a couple of more years to wait till we get the new technology. I agree with Deb, get one of those LED book lights in Costco, they're bright and they last long too.

Not a good idea.

Why? :confused3

Why not just bring a book light with you if you want brighter light to read?

My issue is not just reading, that was just one example. For some reason I do not feel like I am staying in a deluxe accommodation when the room is dark and gloomy. It feels like I am staying at Motel 6. "We'll leave the (dim) light on".

That would drive me crazy especially while cooking in the kitchen. Agree we have some older cfl's in our home and newer ones are much brighter they just take a minute or 2 to get to there optimum brightness.

talk about driving me crazy , i have been with my wife for 25 years an i am still waiting for her to "get bright".....so waiting 2 min for light bulbs to get bright is easy:banana:

This is a pet peeve of mine about hotels in general these days. We were just at the Michelangelo in NYC last weekend - a very expensive hotel. I had to put the family on notice that the bathroom lights were not to be turned off at any point while we were getting ready because they took so long to "warm up."

Any of the VWL groupies at the Lodge now?

We love it when people come over to see us. :goodvibes

If you ask your question, he will probably help you out or as many Groupies on that thread, someone will probably know what you want to know.
