Hi everyone,

My TA was emailing me today about our possible B2B on the Dream next winter. She wanted to know if I wanted to upgrade to the Deluxe Family Verandah rooms instead of just the 5A because of the extra space. My initial reaction was that it was unnecessary us having been very comfortable (2A 2C 5 and 3) last year on the magic in a cat 5. However, I noticed that is, I think, 22 square feet less than our room last year. Anyone who has been on the Dream notice this difference? I'd rather not upgrade as it would be pricy on the back to back cruise, but I was so pleased with our room last year and wouldn't want to feel cramped by comparison.

Thanks for your thoughts in advance.

Hi there! Your thread has gotten a bit lost since it's posted in the trip report section, and not on the main page.

But from the initial pictures, I think the size differences are subtle between the old and new ships. The new ships don't have the steamer trunk that took up some room, and have been replaced on the new ships by a coffee table trunk that has storage inside, plus room under the bed for storage.

The Family staterooms on the Dream also have round instead of oval showers, which saves some room as well.

I think you'd be fine in the regular Cat 5 room, but if you can get the extra space for not much more than I might do it. We have booked Cat 8 oceanview rooms over the Cat 9 for our 2012 cruises, to get the extra large window as well as the extra space, and the cost difference isn't great.
