Six Flags

Yesterday I went to six flags with a bunch of people from work. We got there right at opening and did the Bizarro roller coaster (previously superman). But the highlight of the day was when two of my supervisors and I did the skycoaster. It's this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=le97yx1nRRw. It was SO much fun! I told my family that I did it and they said they would never do it. But I wanted to do it now before I went back and would be too scared to do it. Six Flags is no Disney but it was so much fun to go with a group of people.

Do you go to local amusement parks in the summer?
Do you subconsiously compare them to Disney?

I love going to 6 flags! Sure, its no Disney but it has great roller coasters. There are a few family owned amusement parks around where I live so it is always fun to take day trips to them. They usually have great theming, more than chain amusement parks.

DW is for rich snobs who think they're all that because they have the money to go to disney.

Disney is and always will be a step above any other theme park. Its cleaner, more organized ect. IMO its worth the extra $$$$.

ETA: I only went to 1 water park this summer. There isn't any close theme parks around here.

I go to Carowinds during the summer (its on the NC/SC border) it's nothing like Diney (Carowinds is a Nickelodian (sp?) park). It's more of a thrill park ten anything else. Even though there is a huge section for kiddy rides. IMO their water park is 10 times better then both of WDW's water parks. Plus it's 10 times les crowded :]

There are no theme parks in Puerto Rico, but when I visit California, I also go to Knott's Berry Farm, Universal Studios, and sometimes SixFlags.

i go to Hershey Park all the time in the summer.
its nothing compared to disney. but sometimes i do like the thrill rides that you just dont get at disney.

the six flags we have in MD sucks. its dirty the people are rude and most of the rides have broken down too many times.

Six Flags is A LOT of fun! The only thing I don't like about it is the cleanliness and the people that go to the park. The one near me, Great Adventure, is usually full of ghetto teens who like to run around and be obnoxious. It's not cool..lol

But I do tend to compare Disney World to other theme parks. And Disney always seems to win. lol

There's a Six Flags about 30-45 minutes away from where I live. I go at least once every summer with friends - last summer I went about 4 times but I've only been once this summer. It's a pretty nice park and is generally pretty darn clean. I'm a total thrill ride junkie, so it's perfect for me.

ALOT of people who go ARENT rich.
i'm not rich and i go every year.
oh & i dont think im 'all that', wait sike yes i do,
but its not cause i have the money to go to disney.

alot of families cut corners to save up for a trip.

I just looked up the Bizaro coaster in Great Adventure and it is Medusa with a new Paint Job and little extra features like a mist thing. I was saying to myself how could they go bankrupt and add a new coaster but they took the cheap way and just painted it.

And I go to a place called Keansburg they have rides and games and everything...its like a boardwalk but without the actual boardwalk.

We have one Six Flags around here about a hour and a half from where I lame but it's pretty lame compared to a lot of the other 6 Flags I've heard of...
I've only gone to Disneyland this Summer...
But I'm going to the fair her in like a week but all the rides there are run down and look like there about to break...
But they can be fun with a group of friends!

Lolz. I agree with everybody else... if you think Disney is full of rich snobs why are you on a Disney Forum? Not all people who go to Disney are rich. Some people save up all year for their trip. Disney can be affordable if you do the deals they have.

lol yess! six flags great adventure is filled with a bunch of ghetto people.
and when i went to dorney park a bit back, it was the same way.
theres an amusement park about 10 minutes away from me (im not saying the name... xD) and its really fun there. sure, there are some ghettoish people who go there but they arnt really bad.
its cheap to get in and since we live local we get a bunch of free in one day tickets.
they dont have a lot of rides, but the ones they have are pretty epic. haha.
