A friend is interested in taking her two young kids, 7 and 5 to Six Flags and asked my opinion before spending the money on tickets (which aren't cheap). I havent' been and was wondering if someone could shed some light.
Thanks!

My youngest turned 6 last Summer and we've been taking her for several years (probably since she was 3). Don't know if it's the same at all of them, but the one near St. Louis has a LOT of kiddy rides and there's almost never a line for them. 42" is the cutoff for most of the waterpark rides that are kid friendly, but there are a couple faster rides that require 50". The water park closes early, so we usually hit that first, and then the log flume & whatever else we feel like in the main park before heading home.

edit: as a kid, I prefered Six Flags to Disneyland FWIW.

Are you taking about the one in New Jersey? I have been alot, when my kids were little and now that they are teens..we still go alot. First, as far as tickets..dont ever pay full price, if u buy online..its cheaper. Coke always does on their cans a deal.. entertainment books have coupons... Le t me know what else you need to know, happy to help

Six flags in nj SCARES me. Every year they put in a new giant roller coster and ignore maintenance and upkeep on the rest of the park. Go to Sesame Place in Langhorne Pa for kids that age. Its not too far from there and so fun.

I think it depends on which Six Flags. We took our kids last summer (6 and 3 at the time) to Six Flags St. Louis and they had a blast. They rode a ton of stuff. But...I don't think there is nearly as much kid friendly stuff at Great America (near Chicago).

I disagree with previous poster, I stayed away for afew years, it was different owners.. So much better last two years, park is clean, employees are good, all I see are families there

Which 6 Flags are you referring to? There are many. :)

Seriously?? Oh Please! I am not crazy about Great Adventure but their maintenance is fine. First of all their are laws, and as much as I don't like the park, there is nothing wrong with the upkeep of the rides.

I disagree, nothing ever has a frwsh coat of paint. I actually had a screw come losse on my lapbar on roling thunder so dh and i had to hold the thing in ourselves. When we got off we handed to the worker, he just pushed it back in and loaded more people in. There is gum coating the walls in pretty much every line cue. Sure there are laws, but i think they are just passing. For 6 flags nj it's all about the new coaster and everything else gets left behind. Last time we were there over half of the lights on the ferris wheel were boken. Picky? Yes, but for what they charge in parking alone, those bulbs could be lit.

On the other hand we do enjoy hurricane harbor.

Like i said earlier thoug, if its a trip for the kids go to sesame place.

and I think your kids would enjoy it. My kids are now at the age where they only do the coasters but there are alot of rides for younger kids. The park is much improved and much cleaner the last few years. Hurricane harbor is really fun for the younger kids. Remember that there are always the different boardwalks and their rides to consider and they are having their Easter/Spring specials right now. I know Ocean City has a deal and so does Jenkinson's in Pt Pleasant. Also, take the advice of the previous poster who said to look for deals. Our town recreation department even has discounted tickets. If you visit at least 2 times a season pass will pay for itself and you will get a coupon book to bring a friend for a discount and sometimes for free. Just something to look into.
