We leave on Sunday for our second trip to DL. :woohoo: I know this kids DD(5) and DS(7) are really looking forward to this trip. DW is looking forward to it as well, because she is sick of hearing me talk about everything I have learned from this site, but I could care less, she will thank me later. :goodvibes

Here is what we have on the agenda, Goofy's kitchen for dinner on Sunday the day we arrive at the DLH. Then to bed early for a start first thing tomorrow.

Monday morning, up early for EE and all of FL, Peter Pan first and the rest of the usual order. We will also try to make the first Jedi academy since my DS is a huge Star Wars fan. He even has an Anikan Skywalker outfit we will put him in for the show to hopefully help him get picked. This is on surprise I have not told him about yet. After spending the morning in the park, head back to the hotel for some lunch & pool time. Then back to the parks to use FP's gathered during the morning and watch Billy Hills and the parade. If kids are still going, we will stay for fireworks.

Tuesday, another EE day, but this time we are going to head straight for Nemo. I plan to carry my DS on my shoulders and DD in stroller so we can make good time, as Hydro Guy states, every minute counts! Afterward hit anythign else the kids want. We have PS at 10:30 for Carnation Cafe, then will head over to DCA for some rides there. Then back to hotel for a quick rest, then either back to DCA or DL depending on what FP we have.

Wednesday is kids day and we will go anywhere and do anythign they want. By this time they should have had a chance to do everything at least once so we will go back and do what they want a second time. Then when it is late my DS asked if just the two of us could go back to the parks after his sister is asleep for some dad and son time since he is older now and should be able to stay up later, LOL. This from a kids who is ready for bed around 7:30 everynight, but I will take him out anyways.

Thursday, get a good breakfast and head to SNA for a noon flight home.

Anyways, that is what we are planning if you have any last minute tips or advice, would love to hear it. Also if you need anything let me know and I can try to accomadate you.

Sounds like a great plan & a great trip, Tom. :thumbsup2

It sounds alot like our last trip to DLR resort....right down to the Jedi Training & 10:30 breakfast at Carnation Cafe.

If you haven't seen it, here's a link that describes our (my DS 8) Jedi experience.

Have a great time. :hippie:

hound - :)

Your post is too funny, :lmao: If you go back and look, I am the first person to respond to your Jedi post and wrote down all of your ideas on notes too do, even standing on the Nemo side. I figured after we did FL that was the easiest place to walk to anyway.

To anyone else, if your were thinkning of doing the Jedi Academy with your kids, Hound has some great advice and tips in that link! :thumbsup2

I guess i should have looked at my thread before posting it. :upsidedow

That's the 5th dumbest thing i've done today (& don't ask about the first 4 :rolleyes1 )

You guys are going to have a blast. Let us know how it went when you return. :yay:

We are leaving in six days too!! Our plans are drive down on Sunday and Sunday night go to Storytellers for dinner. Do a little shopping around DTD and relax by the pool. Up bright and early on Monday to start touring. We usually hit splash first and pick up a few fp's and then hit POTC and INDY and then head to Space. Then Matterhorn and usually by then it is time for lunch.

We have ressies for Cafe Orleans that day. On a normal day we would leave shortly after for a mid day break and nap but my cousin is up from San Diego and she is leaving that evening so we will stay. Sometime that morning my dh will run across to CA and get fp's for Soarin and then whenever we leave DL for the day we will head to CA and let her ride soarin and possibly take an expdited tour of CA before she takes off. We may or may not have dinner with her as well before she heads home. That day is kind of up in the air depending on how long she decides to stay.

Most likely though no matter when she leaves we may go back and see the fireworks or ride some more rides unless we are beat.

Then Tues we will get a little rest and eat at Dennys or IHOP. The Disneyland days we will be stuck with eating a McDonald's or a bagel in line waiting for DL to open LOL.

But then we will spend all Tues at DCA. No real ressies that day for lunch or dinner and we may or may not take a mid day break. Since the park opens late and closes early we may not leave.

Wed it is up bright and early again and this day is our one chance to try Nemo since there is no EE. We are not staying on property and we have AP's so we don't get any EE days. So we are going to be in line EARLY and hope to get there and try it. Actually dh and the girls will ride while mom and I get FP's for space. I can't do closed in spaces and either can mom. I would LOVE to see it and maybe in a year or so when the newness wears off I can try it when it is not so crowded but when it is packed to the gills I can't handle it. We will do our normal touring this day getting as many FP's and riding as much as we can in the morning and this day we will probably def take a mid day break and nap at the hotel. We will probably eat dinner outside the park and come back after and use our passes and stay till closing our close to. Not sure about watching the fireworks but will play that by ear. We have seen the parade AND the fireworks already so we shall see.

Thursday is our last DL day and we plan to do all the stuff we normally would never do. Tom Sawyer (or rather Pirates Lair) Island. Innoventions, Jedi Academy etc. We have ressies for an adult only dinner at Steakhouse 55 that even so we will leave the park around 5ish and get the kids pizza and change and then go have dinner. After dinner mom will go back to the room and Shane and I will have a little grownup time in the park!

Then Friday we are going to Knotts. We have never been as a family. My kids have never been, Shane hasn't been since he was a kid and I haven't been in years. So we are looking VERY forward to it. And then finally we drive back home on Saturday. WHEW!

How exciting! We leave in 5 days-on Saturday. We're flying and will arrive early Saturday (9:30) but will probably skip the parks that day as I don't want to go on a weekend if I can't go early. We'll be there for a week, so we'll have some time.
Saturday: Check into Hojos. Go visit friends and swim in their pool. Wander around DTD at night to get a fix before hitting the sack early.
Sunday: Up first thing to be at DL at 7:30. Skip Fantasyland and Nemo this day (will hit FL on EE day and Nemo on a non-EE weekday). Head to DCA when DL gets really busy.
Monday: EE day-at park by 6:30. Do FL-Peter Pan first, of course. PS at Blue Bayou for lunch (our only PS-we're not doing a character meal this time. We may get PS for DH and I one night as my mom is coming and has offered to babysit-might do the Vineyard or Napa Rose).
Tuesday: DH is at his conference today, Weds, and Thursday. We'll do the parks w/my mom.
Wednesday: Had planned to skip the parks today as DH is busy through the evening (going to the big conference event: a Kiss concert!!!) but I think i'll add a day to our parkhopper. Dinner at Rainforest Cafe.
Thursday: Same as above
Friday: Last day :(. Hit all the highlights.

One night, my eldest and I (and maybe my mom) will go to the park and close it down without the baby along :) DD is very excited about that.

We'll have plenty of time when I lay it out this way, but I still am worried-this is my first high season trip ever. We will do early mornings and then head back to the hotel for long afternoon breaks every day before returning.

We're leaving Sunday and hitting DL on Monday morning for EE.

Our kids have never been before, so we are doing EE first to warm them up with the FL rides. Sounds like Mondays are very busy EE mornings.....almost tempted to leave EE for another day, but that would be Tuesday or the Saturday which I figure would be just as busy anyway.

The countdown is on:woohoo:

Well, I am glad to have some friends in the park this next week. Make sure you have your Green Mickey Head along and maybe we will bump into each other. It sounds as if limace & bambigirl88 and I will all be in FL together Monday morning.

See you all then, have a safe flight and remember, its almost time to leave.

One last note, you may want to read through Hydroguys tips one last time, he reminded me of a few things I forgot.

Don't have a green MickeyHead:confused: , but my daughter has a white
Roots sunvisor....

Thumbs up to all Dis'ers for their advice on these boards!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

If you have a Home Depot in your town, you can get an alien green Mickey head paint chip sample in their paint department. I cut mine out of the paint sample card, laminated it, and I'm going to attach it to my camera strap or my waist pack.:)

OOOHHH THAT Mickey Green tag:rolleyes:

Yes, I've heard about those. I will send hubby off to his "happy place" aka HD tomorrow to get some.......I know he'll think I'm off my rocker again....:rotfl:

Is anyone going to be at the parks next Thursday? I am planning on doing a day since I am staying in the area for Comic-Con in San Diego on Friday.

I am not a huge fan of Alien Green so I think I want to make a burgundy Mickey head marker hehehe!

We are also heading to DL on Sunday! We are going to try the EE on Monday - hoping that we will still be on Chicago time (that is the only way that we stand a chance of being there before 7 am!)

Does anyone else have trouble getting the family up at at 'em that early? Hopefully the lure of shorter lines will be a good incentive....

I don't have time to get a mickey head but this is me and my girls

And this one has dh and my oldest daughter as well as another one of me and the girls how we usually look at the parks. My red hed is easy to spot and I ALWAYS have a visor on. I won't have that pink one but the one I have now is one of those cheapies that you get at Michaels LOL. The others give me headaches. If you see us say HEY!!

Hey alnickandme, we are from Downers Grove. What airline are you taking? We are on American.

To answer your question about getting up early, we did the same trip two years ago and kids were up at 5:00am CA time which is 7:00 our time. I think we were one of the first twenty people to the gates. However after running them ragged on day one, day two was a little harder, and by day three they were really dragging.

Make sure to look for us, I am a rather BIG guy and will be their with DW, DS(7) and DD(5). We have our green Mickey heads all ready to go! See you all Monday!

How funny - we are on American too - the 9:05. We also have a reservation at Goofy's kitchen tomorrow night - so we'll see you there too. I have an 8yo DD and 5 yo DS - they will be the ones bickering all the way to SNA.

Have a great trip!

Aimee
