So today was our last day in the park. We had a great time all 8 of us. The photopass plus was a great thing I have to say. Ordered it before we left and I have checked out the pictures online it is great. In our group we have several that rode the rides with pictures over and over so that was nice. We did a character breakfast and had some with characters around the park.

It is crowded but I was expecting worse so that is good for me. We didn't bother with carsland when I saw the fp line for Radiator springs wow is all I have to say. No one was sad they were happy to have shorter lines for the other rides. I used ridemax and that was so helpful even for our early morning entry into disneyland. Got all of fantasyland done and star tours before the park opened to the general public. RSR was down until noon the first day in DCA that must have sucked for those that were planning on getting in line first thing. I am exhausted and happy all in one. We leave tomorrow and my sunburnt body couldn't take anymore I don't think. Even my lips are sunburnt with sunblock on all of me. I am so white what can I say.

We stayed at the ramada maingate. We are quite happy with it. We don't do super fancy or low budget but this is right in the middle. Rooms are clean, the pool is nice has some spray stuff on the deck for the kids, lounge chairs, regular chairs and tables. Bath towels are a generous size I hate staying at places that give towels that don't cover my body just a pet peeve of mine. The breakfast is nothing to write home about wouldn't choose this place for that. Small hallway of a breakfast room and you have to try and eat by the pool or come to your room. The choices are not great especially if you don't like biscuits. We don't eat that kind of thing so it was weird to us. No peanut butter just jam. Great if you want toast and coffee. The kids said the eggs taste weird I never had any. Fee wifi which is nice. Close enough for our party of 8 ages 7-59.

Ok exhausted gotta go. Excited for those about to come or planning on it soon.

Thanks for sharing! Glad you had a good time.

How much did you pay for hotel?

We were there in mid July and had free upgraded rooms by booking online. I believe the quoted rate was $147 per night, with tax ended up around $175.

(This is super high season, obviously. The hotel seems more affordable at other times, from what I saw.)

I would echo the OP on the hotel, we found it very very close to the park, very convenient, quiet, comfortable beds, good towels, clean. Rooms were worn but totally fine, carpet was clean. Pool was great. We liked the breakfast, kids liked the doughnuts and cold cereal with milk every day. Coffee was passable (actually much better than GCH room coffee, which is some of the worst I've ever had).

We'll be staying at that hotel in late September. I'm thinking of ordering groceries so we can have a quick breakfast and bedtime snack in our room. Just wondering if they have anything portable at the free breakfast that we could take back to the room for later or that the kids could eat in the stroller on the way to the park? Should I bother ordering milk, or do they have little cartons there to take away? Would they be upset if they saw me "sneaking" cereal etc into containers for snacks later? Did they have any fresh fruit?

Honestly, I can't remark on if they would be upset about anything, but I can tell you that they provide trays so that people can grab breakfast and take it back to the room -- they encourage this, as there is limited seating by the pool.

Most of the items are fairly portable -- doughnuts, toast, coffee in styrofoam cups -- and there is cold cereal -- but I fail to see how portable cereal is.

The milk comes from a big milk machine, but you could put some in a coffee cup, if you needed to.

There was some fruit, I think apples and bananas were common.

Basically I think you are right, that if you wanted to go to some effort, you could migrate things back to your room, but for me personally, that would jump the boundary between reasonable and sleazy, pretty quick. It's one thing to take a few items to eat in your room, for breakfast, or take a few items to eat on the way to the park. It's another thing entirely to try to make a complimentary breakfast into a complimentary late night snack...

(If I've misread your intentions, I apologize, and of course, I replied mostly to help answer your questions... not to moralize, I got carried away a bit, I guess LOL.)

FWIW we loaded up massively at Costco with snacks, probably spent $150 for five people for a week's worth of snacks, and it was the best $150 I've spent in a while... we routinely take a lot of snacks into the parks, it saves a lot of money but more importantly saves a lot of time, and everyone gets to pick out a snack or two, so that's kind of fun.

To comment on some others posts. The carpets are clean I saw on each day we were there different rooms had their carpets cleaned they had big fans blowing from the door in on the wet carpets the tables and chairs were turned up on the beds. I was happy to see that. On our last day they were even cleaning the umbrellas by the pool.

For breakfast you can take stuff to your room they have trays like someone else mentioned. They had bananas and oranges or bananas and apples while we were there. I took milk up to the room for my ods cerealin a styrofoam cup. They have donuts some days and bagels another and toast everyday. They have biscuits a lot which we don't enjoy. No peanut butter we had to buy some because my family doesn't function without it. They do have butter(or margarine I can't remember) and jam. another thing I was grateful for was they do tickets for the ART and other attractions in front of the hotel that was a little of a bonus so we didn't have to walk somewhere else to get these things.
