Not sure where to post this...so here it is....

I am to be attending a conf. at the CR first part of October. The plan was to take my 9yo and my mom (grandma) along. Due to health reasons my mom will likley not be able to come along to hang with my 9yo during my conference time. My choices are either cancel trip and conf. all together or hire an in room sitter. I am pretty freaked out at the idea of leaving my daughter with someone I don't know (Kids Nite out). Any and all feedback would be great. Thank you.

What about using one of the Kids Clubs? There, it's a group setting with other kids and plenty of activities and dinner. $11.50/hour. We used Neverland Club at the Poly last week and they were wonderful.

That was my first thought however all of the kids clubs I have found don't start until about 4:30pm. I am needing morning and early afternoon hours for 3 different days Are there some that have daytime hours. That would be GREAT!

My friend has used a Mother's helper in the parks before and I believe it was through Kids Nite Out, so I would call them. The Disney clubs do not operate during the day.

"Back in the Day"... I used some sitter organizations in the area... they were just fine....

Another idea - I belong to some Face Book Disney groups and a gal there is always offering to Disneysit. She does a blog and likely has some excellent references. If not her... then perhaps join some blogs where you could match up with someone.

If you know an awesome Teenager/young adult who might enjoy the trip in exchange for a day or two to help you all out.... maybe contact a foreign exchange student organization for someone who would like to experience Orlando in exchange for helping you

The Web gives us a great way to search out options....and as long as you are careful I think it is a great resource. Our 18 yr old daughter found a school year long sitting job at "Sittercity.com" (I believe that is the website). Those folks were like a second family to her and were very good to her...and she worked very hard for them....certainly they and other sites have options in Orlando...

Hope those ideas help! Have a magical visit !

We are leaving on Saturday and I am going to need an in room sitter on our trip for our 10 month old (our 4yo is going to the Neverland Club). I was going to use Kids Nite Out but this blogger has peaked my interest. What is her website??

Also, should I go ahead and call and set this up before we leave or do it when we get down there??

My sister brought me and my daughter along on a conference trip to keep her DD busy while she was in meetings. Since then she's brought my daughter along on another family vacation so that she and her DH could go out at night and have a babysitter for their DD.

Could you bring a niece or teen friend with you?

I've heard great things about Kids Night Out....I don't think you'd be disappointed with their service. The other posters have some great ideas too, maybe a teen family member who could travel with you or another sitter.

I've done both (Kids Nite Out and hired an in park mother's helper) and for a 9 year old, I suggest considering the mother's helper option.

While Kids Nite Out offers this service, it is very expensive because you must purchase a park ticket in addition to the hourly rate + agency fee (unless you want your daughter to stay in the room/resort and swimming is not an option while in an agency sitter's care).

This past summer I used SitterCity to find a mother's helper who also has an annual pass. I ended up finding a great young woman who is a college student enrolled in the WDW internship program. While using SitterCity I noticed that there were several sitters listed who were in some way affiliated with Disney.

Anyway, for a couple of half days, my 8 yr old son (who has Asperger's, no less) took off with his "Disney friend" to ride all the attractions that his younger brother is too small/frightened to ride. My older son is still talking about how much fun he had and that he hopes we can do this again next year.

With a cell phone in case of emergency and some basic safety precautions in screening potential sitters, I think it is could be a very workable option for you and your daughter.

I would go with Kids Nite Out - hands down. They are the only authorized Disney babysitting service. They are licensed and insured. Highly trained, highly professional, all screened. We have used them twice and I was very impressed. Perhaps they cost more than a mother's helper, but for peace of mind, I would either bring someone else with you or hire Kids Nite Out. I just personally would be nervous about hiring someone I met over the internet without any screening or other verifiable credentials.
