Site in Loop 2000

Looking for the site number to request that is across from the comfort station in the back of Loop 2000. I believe it is site 2034 and located on the outer side and not an interior site. We will have two larger tents and expect that site will be adequate and quiet. If you are familiar with this site, what backs up to it? Thanks!

You expect it to be quiet near a CS in a Tent Loop?

I have never stayed in that loop, but I can only imagine. At least with RVs/Campers (many of them anyway) we have our own bathroom to use (although I still typically use the CS for showers as it is a bit more roomy). In the tent loop, most everyone has to use a CS leading to more traffic, more conversation, and more noise.

All that said, I cannot provide any information on your request of the Site number. I will say, though, that from all I have read, the fort won't guarantee a Loop Request (although they try), and are less likely to honor a SITE request, but it's worth a shot, I suppose.

OP, I agree with pp. 'Quiet' is not something I would equate with tent loops! Most people in tents tend to 'live' outside and just sleep in their tents, so therefore lots more noise and action (especially mostly using the CS's exclusively).

We were just there, but in loop 100. There were two tenting families there while we were there. They were 'very' quiet, and I expect that is why they were 'not' in a tent loop! They were quiet, and wanted a quiet atmosphere around them.

(Congratulations on being 10 yrs. cancer free - have had some family members and great friends with that diagnosis and understand some of your feelings of it being that long behind you!!)

Thanks for your reply peg110. We have stayed at the Ft several dozen times in both our TT and our tents, and in loops 100, 300, 400, 1500, and 2000. In our tt, we have used our own bath but like you, we use the comfort station also. Our upcoming trip will be with our tents and we now need to be closer to the comfort station due to recent mobility issues. The fewer the steps, the easier. A site backing up to woods is generally quieter, in our experience, than one in the inner loop and next to the cs. Previously, we stayed on the other side of the cs in the outer loop backing up to cabins but they had large parties late at night on the weekend so we are trying to avoid that. No campground is quiet and we enjoy the comraderie anyway.

Perhaps I should ask, does anyone have a map of the loop? Having looked at the videos on utube, it's difficult for me to see what is across/next/behind a site. Again, thank you for your help!

Thanks for understanding the joy of being 10 years cancer free! I probably should not have used the word quiet. I really wanted less foot traffic past my tents when on the outside loop from the cs as opposed to being next to/behind the cs on the inner loop. While we have thought about tenting amongst the big rigs in the lower loops, one of the reasons we enjoy our tent is that we our outside the whole time amongst the community! Love the smell of coffee wafting thru the air in the am and the sounds of kids playing! And, interacting with fellow campers from all over the country.

Okay I was was about to jump on the "what quiet?" train. One of my times in loop 2000 long time ago I had a tent on the interior site that is nearly in front of the back Comfort Station. Quiet it was not. Every time the door banged shut, we heard it. Everyone coming to the CS one last time talking at night before they turned in regardless of the hour, we heard it.

If memory serves it might be a few numbers higher like 2038/2040 or somewhere in there that is on the outer part of the loop and across from the CS. IIRC correctly, when I posted a picture of the short cut to the bridge behind Creekside Meadow that comes out into 900, the campsite post number is 2042. So I think it's somewhere in that neighborhood. Behind it is the Creekside Meadow (group camping area) Comfort Station.

Anyway, that's the number range (I think).

Site 2037 was great for us. Across road from CS, backed up to creek. I posted picture on the post is picture of campsite thread. More noise during weekends, but did not really bother us, just me and DH

We camped on site 2041 in tents back in February for Mardi Gras. We were on the inside (good for us with a 2 year old) of the loop and one site removed from the CS. We did not experience any noise that was unacceptable, especially at night. There was also a scout troop back around the corner (around site 2020-2030) but they were not too loud. I actually did not mind the inside loop on that side of the CS as the fence leading up to the CS forced people to walk around to the other side. We also felt that the site we had was a little larger than most surrounding us. We had two huge tents and a pop up canopy and still had plenty of room to hang out.

I too like the camaraderie of tent loops and I don't find 2000 to be particularly noisy - not more so than the time we stayed in 1500 (where the smell of ummm...weed mingled with the kids scootering) or 1700 where our front door neighbors had a screaming death match at 2 am and the guy peeled out in the MH and left the lady standing there. That said, 2043 last weekend was 3 sites down from the comfort station on the inside. The good thing about the sites in this area, as Ed mentions, is that they are all close to the shortcut to the pool and singalong, although a bit far from the bus. When you get there, ask for your preferred site and they have a book with drawings of all the sites and they can show you the available ones for you to pick from. Get there as early as you can.
