Any recommendations for Sit and Stand Strollers?

Give me the lowdown on what you've owned or used.

Does the front seat recline fully? What type of angle / position is the front seat in when the larger child is sitting on the bench seat?

Is there a parent tray? An under-carriage basket?

Looking for one for an almost 5 year old (approx. 45 pounds) and an almost 1 year old (approx 25 pounds).

With the cost of the stroller rentals at Disney, I thought buying one of these may be a better and more cost effective option. My main concern is having something for my older child when she gets tired out.

Thanks.

We have the Joovy caboose. it works great for us. My 5 yo is around 40 lbs and the baby is probably 27ish. We have only had it a few months, but we have used it lots of times. It doesn't have a parent tray, but you can buy one seperately. It does have a storage basket, but it is hard to get to with both kids seated. I don't generally recline the front seat, but I don't think that it goes back that far. My kids sleep upright in their carseats, so I don't think it will be a big deal for us with quick naps (neither child naps regularly). We don't use the tray on the front either. the little one likes to get on and off frequently, so without the tray he can do it himself, provided he isn't buckled in.

we also have the joovy caboose for our 5 yr old and 2 yr old. I LOVED it in disney , the only complaint I have is that when both kids would get tired and grumpy they would put thier heads back and bump each other's heads which led to screaming matches. Although I have 2 very tall children so you might not have that problem.

Ds will be almost one when we go to Disney next. When your child is sitting on the seat, can your child put his / her head back or is the chair lower that their neck? A friend of mine has a different brand of sit and stand and her two year old's head is much higher than the height of the seat, so the kid couldn't fall asleep comfortably is they wanted to. I need something that the baby will be able to nap well in.

Thanks!

We just bought (within the last month) the Baby Trends sit n stand at Target. Cost $119 total and was really easy to put together. Both boys love it, especially my 5 year old since he can be more active.

You can remove the canopy if you want so that your older child can see if they want to face forward.

We love the Baby Trend Deluxe Sit- n- Stand, -it can be a double stroller with two reclining seats or the back seat can come off and be turned into a sit and stand. My three year old likes it as well as I because we he needs to relax and wants to recline he has that option and does just have to sit on a padded seat and hold on. I have an almost one year old that sits in the front, the only issue is the back seat doesn't sit perfectly up straight nor the front only reclines a slight.
Much easier to turn than my eddie baur double and a lot lighter, and fold with one hand-which is a bonus in my book! It also has a parent tray and a basket underneath.

when my stroller was in the upright position yes her head would stick partly over the top, but you can lean it back so they can rest their heads, only problem with that is the child in the back cant sit upright.
My best advice (this is what we did) is to go to babies r us and try it out with your kids before you buy one. My son is 50 + pds so the babytrend was out of the question. I love my joovy though , and totally reccomend it

We bought the sit n stand as well....ours has a parent tray and a basket underneath. My only real complaint is the lack of canopy for the older child, but I bought a seperate one that clips on to shade my 3 year old from the sun while he sits still, plus it gives more coverage to my one year old. The canopy on the front is where my one year old rests his head when he sleeps, so no head bumping over here! It has worked very well for us on day trips to the zoo with a soft sided cooler and a diaper bag. The front seat either sits up straight or reclines to about a 45 degree angle...enough to be comfy for a little person. It doesn't lay flat, obviously, but if the older child isn't sitting all the way back on the bench seat, there is a good amount of space. There is also a 3 point harness for the older child on the bench seat and a 5 point for the younger in the front.

I think we ordered ours site to store from Walmart...it was $106 before tax. We really like it. My poor Graco Duoglide is abandoned in the garage right now in favor of this one. :)

I have that sit-n-stand. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. I hate it. Did I say I hate it?

It is harder to maneuver than a tandem double, which doesn't bother me. You can not reach the basket when kids are in it. It does not fold flat. Now, mine is from 2004, so things may have changed.

I would need to check with DH first, but if anyone wants it and has a trip the last week of October or the first week of November, I would be happy to give the thing away. A stroller swap could be started with it. I guess some people like it. It served a need, but I would look more at the joovy. I was watching someone at the zoo with that and it didn't look so bad.

I have the sit n stand - DON't DO IT! There is no way you'll want to push around that much weight in one of those strollers at disney. When my husband and I walk at home, we have to take turns pushing my kids (40lb 4 year old + 25 lb 1 yr old). On our last trip, we bought 2 Chicco ct.5 (think that's the name) for $60 each. They were light, easy to get on and off buses and both kids slept in them (they do not recline fully). We each pushed one kid - it was perfect. If we wanted to split up, it was easy to do, too.

I bought the Joovy Caboose several years ago and I really liked it. My daughter was 6 at the time and DS, almost 3. It was my first time alone with both kids (I had just gone with DD in the past and left DS home with dad as I thought he was too young to handle with both alone and DH does not do Disney due to being in a wheelchair and does not find it enjoyable in the crowds.) DD was pushing end of weight limit at the time but it still worked great for us. I really like it. I wish they had one she could ride now at 8 as at Disney every once in awhile she gets worn out at night.

It was also perfect at the airport traveling with 2 of them. I put DS on the back, carry one luagge in the front seat and DD walked next to me. We go through a bigger airport and it was great to push DS and luggage. Then I gate checked it. I'd recommend one.

The only problem I had with it is the front seat does not recline and when DS got tired tough to fall asleep sitting up, but he managed.

I have a Joovy Caboose too. We got it in 2006. I love it.

The front seat doesn't recline much but I don't let my kids nap in the stroller so it's no biggie..

We bought cup holders to put on it but we haven't had to use them yet as I only use it for walks right now.

I have 3 kids so I try to keep my 2 yo up front but sometimes she likes the back.

I do make my 4 1/2 yo climb off & walk up a hill right now just because I am out of shape pushing both of them in it. And that is just the power walk to the bus stop. In Disney I don't think I will be power walking so keeping them both on (or all 3) won't be too much of a problem.

The basket is small but not all strollers have huge baskets & you can hang some things creatively on the hooks to close the stroller.

I think there are a couple of problems with this stroller for WDW (though I had one at home). The biggest is that your older child cannot sit while the baby is reclined and sleeping, which is a conflict late in the evenings. Also, they can be difficult to steer, which is bad news at WDW because so many people will cut you off or stop short in front of you and you need to ba able to turn on a dime. I wouldnt spend the money on one if you dont already have it.

I have a Babytrend Sit-n-Stand very similar to the one above and I'm not sure why people hate it so much. I have a DS8 who weighs 50+ lbs and a DS1 who weighs 23 lbs and it fits both of them just fine. I bought mine from walmart in 2007 so they may have changed from earlier models. It has a parent tray and a good sized basket, which is a little difficult to get into with the kids inside but the good thing is that it can be thought of as a theft deterent (ha)! The shade isn't enough for both kids but you can buy a clip on. I think it steers quite easily with all the weight of both my kids. It folds with one hand and I love the fact that you can steer it so easily when it's folded up. Would be great for the bus stops, airport, etc.

I want to take mine to Disney so bad but I'm not sure we'll have room in the car =(

We just bought the Joovy Ultra light, it has a parent tray and an extra canopee for the child sitting in the back.

We tried out the one pictured above and it was just SO big, it was as big as our old double stroller. We got rid of that thing because it was just too big and bulky.

I have the Joovy Caboose, HATE IT for DISNEY. It is okay for short trips to the mall , etc, but not for disney. It is hard to manuver, it doesn't fold up any smaller than any other stroller. It was heavy, and cumbersome. We are going with two umbrella strollers for DD4 and DS2. I wouldn't spend the money on the Joovy, but that is just me.

Another vote for the Joovy. LOVE IT
It is easy to maneuver and the kids can easily hop on and off.
We are bringing it to DW next year for our 3 yr old and as needed for the 5 yr olds.

We have a Joovy caboose (older version-not the lite) and we LOVE it. We use it with a 1 yr old (20 lbs) and a 4 yr old (35 lbs).

Pros:

pushes easily
turns easily
handle tall enough for DH
folds easily
great for 4 year old since she walks mist of the time, but does need a rest now & then.
lots of space to hold our bags when 4 yr old isn't on it.
less long than the traditional double stroller we have

Cons:
wide when folded-but what are you going to do-anything that holds 2 kids will be bigger than something that only holds one kid.
wheels lock when folded. This can be good and bad. good so that it doesn't roll around on you when sitting on the bus, bad when you can't roll it to the bus folded.
front seat does not recline much (for sleeping) but the kids manage.
if both kids are tired it won't work...kid in back can't really take a nap.

We like it for Disney way better than lugging our double stroller around. Still, I am looking forward to the day I ony need an umbrella stroller again (maybe for our 2009 trip).:)
