Sit and Stand stroller?

I will be in WDW in Oct with my ds (4) and dd (18 months) and I am considering renting one of those sit and stand strollers-they rent them at 'A Baby's Best Friend' for $77 for a week.
(I tried to post a link but my post count is too low lol)

Is this a waste of money? My ds rarely rides in a stroller (even a whole day at the zoo he never used it) and originally we were just going to bring our stroller for dd (ds can fit in it if he needs to). But I know that Disney is a different ballpark. I amagine that all young kids get tired at some point and don't want to walk anymore. I do not want to have 2 strollers or even a double, so the sit and stand was appealing. Is it worth the $77?

I guess I'm just looking for anyone who has btdt with a 4yo and a toddler-did you have one or two strollers? Did you need one for the older one too?

And especially if you used the stroller I mentioned-did you like it?

For $77 you could probably buy a sit n stand off of craigslist or Penny Saver. We have one and like it. I don't know that its great for WDW. It can be hard to maneuver in crowds, and if your kid is exhausted he won't want to stand anyways (you can sit but again, not in a way that would make an exhausted child happy). Honestly I would rent a single stroller at WDW, and if your older kid needed it, you could go upgrade to a double. I understand not wanting a double, but if you needed it, it would be there and the Disney rentals are very condusive to kids catching a nap, or resting a bit. We always leave midday for naps and breaks, but especially at age 4, ds would just want to go, go, go and then suddenly be out for a quick catnap, and then up and ready to go again.

It's funnt you ask because I was just debating whether to bring my double stroller when we go to the World in October or the Sit and Stand. My boys will be 6 and 4 and the 6 year old never rides in a stroller but he's tiny for his age and I know he'll want to rest every once a while. Also, I can just see the two boys fighting over the stroller if I only brought a single

My problem with the Sit & Stand is the regular seat is comfortable enough but the jump seat is definetely not a place to relax at all and if the kid in the front is asleep and you want to recline them, than there is no more jump seat. Hopefully that makes sense as it's hard to explain. Anyway, I've decided to bring the regular double stroller so both boys can take a nap at the end of a long day if they want to.

I was looking for a review on the sit n stand so I appreaciate your input. I am sad to hear that its not very comfortable, but its good to know now I guess.

We will probably just bring our umbrella stroller and we can always rent another/a different one if we need to.

I too was trying to decide what kind of stroller to bring for my 6 mo and 4 yr old sons. I decided to buy a sit n stand stroller and found one at a rummage sale for $60. I think it will work out O.K.-the 4 yr old definately will not be able to nap but we are flexible and will go back to the room if we need to. I mostly wanted it because he is a slow walker and I can't stand going that slow.

We are in the same situation. We have the Sit N Stand and my 6 year old (small for his age and has special needs) will get on and off when he feels like it (with our help because of the little safety strap). But there is no way he could take a nap if he wanted to on that bench seat. But the problem with renting a double from Disney is my youngest will be 16 months and I think that is too small for the double Disney strollers. I feel like he needs a more comfortable reclining stroller. So we are planning to take the Sit N Stand and if my oldest gets really tired needing a nap, we will rent a single Disney stroller for him. That is the plan for now anyway. We just took the Sit N Stand to Dollywood for a test run and really only had trouble maneuvering it on the hills. Of course, I let my DH do most of the pushing. But he said he thought it would be fine.

I would suggest bringing your own stroller.

A lot of times, the hardest walk was from the rental return inside the park to the bus stop. And then standing around waiting for the bus was painful.

We just came back from a week with a 3 month old and 3 1/2 year old. I took our sit'n'stand. It was purchased almost solely because of our WDW trip. My 3 year old sounds the same. He hasn't been in a stroller for over a year - even at the zoo or an amusement park for 6-8 hours.

Renting the WDW stroller wasn't an option since we still needed the infant carrier for the baby. I wasn't willing to do a full sized double. The SnS fit our needs perfectly. Since the infant carrier was in front the seat was reclined the whole time. It was a cozy seat for our 3 year old. He had to kind of kick his buns back to fit on the seat. He's a decent size - 41 inches. Most of the time he stood on the back so he could see what was coming.

We tended to park the stroller in an area, put the infant in a sling and walk around with the 3 year old. When we walked between things, he almost always hopped on to stand on the back of the stroller.

Personally it worked great for us. It was smaller than a double. We were able to leave a bag of essentials but not valuables in the under basket (rain gear, extra change of cloths) and travel relatively light when we were on foot, with the two kids and a small backpack. We could fold the stroller with that bag in the bottom to get on and off the bus. DH was much better with the stroller than I was. It is still heavy to lift, but pretty easy to push.

I got rid of it on Craigslist not long after I purchased it. I felt it was tough to manage in a crowded park, and neither kid really got what they needed out of it. This year we are taking two "nicer" umbrella strollers that recline. We'll see if we find easier.

I would suggest bringing 2 reclining umbrella strollers. We did that when my oldest two were younger. The strollers had canopies and I bought mesh bags and saddle bags for the strollers so we had storage and the strollers reclined so the kids could nap if they wanted to.

I had a Sit N Stand a few years ago. Things may have changed since then (my oldest kids are 8 & 6 now), but my Sit N Stand was heavy and bulky. I would never have taken it to WDW. It would have been very hard to bring it on buses, trams, etc. But, like I said, this was a few years ago. The newer models may be lighter and fold better.

I have a sit and stand stroller and yes we are bringing it for our 2 yr old and 4 1/2 yr old. Our 4 yo prefers to walk but she also like to take a rest (as she calls it) in the stroller. If she's not sitting/standing on it then we can just pile our stuff there!!

I loved my sit and stand at WDW. That's the only time the kids ever want a stroller. My kids were 2.5 and 6 at the time. My DD6 walked most of the time but when she got tired it was great to just let her sit down and take a break. It was also great for the airport. It's just me and the 2 kids that take the Disney trips. DH does not want to go. I was nervous about flying with a busy 2.5 year old boy but the Sit and Stand worked great in the airport. I put him on the back bench sit, the carry-on bag in the front and DD walked. Then gate checked the stroller. It was so nice to have going through the airport. The only hassle was hauling it on the bus, but I'd have that hassle with any stroller I brought.

I have the Joovy Caboose (just like the SNS) and we took it to Disney w/us in May. My kids were 2.5 and almost 6 when we went. I love my stroller and I wouldn't have wanted anything else with me. My 6 year old will walk some but if he gets super tired, he could jump on/off at his leisure.

IMHO, I would buy or rent the SNS.

I just bought a SNS and does the front seat really recline??? I didn't even know. I was thinking how hard it would be for DS1 to take a nap while at WDW. I got it because of the baby and I have a DS7 who hates shopping and is much more tolerable sitting on the back bench with a Nintendo DS in his hands.
