Sister Wives, anyone???

Just joining in (because this show is fascinating to me)!

I apologize if this has already been said (I haven't read the entire thread), but I think the teenagers' unhappiness is 100% normal, given the situation. How many teenagers would welcome the addition of a stepmother and 3 step-siblings into their families (particularly if their entrance into the family meant less time spent with their father)? While it's very kind of Kody to treat Robyn's kids like his own, I'm sure that must be difficult for some of his children to swallow, especially when he spends exactly as much time with his step-children as he does his biological children (more if you take the parent:kid ratio into account).

Additionally, Kody clearly treats Robyn differently than he does his other wives (i.e., seems more infatuated with her) - theirs is more of a "puppy love" than his other relationships. It seems likely that the kids and teenagers would have noticed this difference in treatment too. No one would want their mother to be treated less favorably. The wives signed on to struggle with these issues of jealousy - the kids didn't have a choice.

And then their parents add uprooting them to another state on short notice and a new baby to all the upheaval in their lives? Is it really surprising that some of them aren't ecstatic about their new sibling, whose birth makes it clear that their family will never, ever be what is was? (Similar to the way that a parent's remarriage makes it clear to kids that their parents aren't getting back together.)

I feel terribly sad for these kids - it's so much to grapple with all at once, and the person who is best in the position to reassure them (i.e., their father) has such limited time for them :guilty:

ITA! I think most of them are acting pretty darn normal for teenagers that have had to be uprooted and really their lives completely changed (not having Dad live in their home anymore ect.) I really don't think it has much to do with who their mom is...there lives have been turned completely upside down, so I think it's pretty normal for there to be a good amount of issues. Personally, I think Mariah is more of the exception. She does have a great attitude about life in general, but so do some of Christines older girls, and I think it's pretty normal to have some kids that take all of it rougher than others.

I agree that the teens' reactions are normal. I have a 14 year old who is a freshmen in high school and I can't imagine uprooting her at this point in her life. That would be so, so hard for her. However, even if they are unhappy, most of the Brown kids (and wives) seem to be at least trying to adjust to their new lives. Janelle and her kids seem to be taking it much harder.

Janelle seems rather cold and distant to me. I think she liked the sister wives set up because she could go to work and let the other wives deal with the kids and stuff. Her contribution to the famly was her paycheck. Now that's gone. Add to the loss of her job and identity, she is now suddenly in the position of full time mom to a house full of kids who are angry and resentful.

I can't say I blame any of them for feeling the way they do. I think it all sucks. I can't imagine any of that being my reality. I can see why she isn't all jazzed by the thought of Robin's new baby coming into the family. She has big problems of her own to figure out.

I do think that Mariah and Logan exhibit the stereotypical traits of oldest children (e.g., responsible, mature, rule followers, etc.). Logan is Janelle's child too and he doesn't seem to be struggling like Hunter & Madison are.

I also wonder how much Mariah's feelings about her family are related to the fact that she gains more from her polygamous family (i.e., siblings) than her other brothers and sisters (who already have full siblings within their households). She also gets way more time with her dad (given that she only has to share his attention with her mom, not 6-7 other people, on "their" nights), than her brothers and sisters, which could make her more content and secure about her place in the family.

Did Robyn make mention of her Mother at all? I am just curious. The Dad thing kind of surprised me...

Is this Season over … last epi I saw was Robyn giving birth. (2 weeks ago). Anyone know?

TIA!

My mom and I love watching Sister Wives together. We count the herpes we see in each episode :rotfl:

Hopefully, Meri decides to take Robyn up on her surrogate offer. That is such a sweet thing for Robyn to want to do.

Herpes? :confused3

Maybe she's referring to fever blisters/cold sores/herpes simplex 1. I haven't noticed it on the show but my kids and I get them constantly. Some people just have a low resistance to the virus. Some people get acne, warts, boils, or athletes foot, etc. My family gets fever blisters.

I've noticed them on the oldest son.
