Sippy cups each day in park?

How many sippy cups did you bring each day to the park? My daughter will be 13 months.

When we do all day outings I brought one, and a backup just in case. I would ask for a glass of ice water to go and use that to rise the sippy either outside onto the grass, or in a sink when I had to.

At that age, I brought two. One was his "real" sippy cup - with the valve, etc. The other was a disposable one that I just stuck in the stroller or backpack for just in case. I usually just left that disposable one in the bag all week. Luckily we never needed it - but there's always a chance that he might throw it where I couldn't get it back. If it got dirty, I just washed it out in the sink with soap and rinsed it really well.

At this age (2.5), I'm only bringing one. In a pinch, he can drink out of a small cup with a straw, so I'm not as worried about it.

Our DD was 8 months old and we brought 2 of the 7oz Take 'n Toss sippies each day. We kept one in the backpack as a back-up. When they are brand new, they don't leak, but they will leak over time. The BEST thing we brought with us was a sippy tether! It kept the sippy cup from being tossed overboard while DD was in the stroller or highchair.

We have 3 of this brand and can't recommend them enough! http://www.sippypal.com/

I wholeheartedly agree about the sippy tether, and the Take N Toss cups. There's no need to toss those puppies, either, they hold up to months of use!

I only took one into the parks at that age because my kids could drink out of cups also, if I lost it. You can just refill it as the day goes.

we take one with us...and now it wont be the take n toss ones anymore lol we went out to eat and DS has learned to pop the lids off those one! yep creating a wonderful wet mess of himself lol

Thanks for the sippypal link...I just ordered two (one for home, one for travel)!!!

OP: don't forget that if you need to deep clean a sippy cup or bottle during the day you can always stop by the Baby Care Station and use their sink with hot water and dish soap. It cuts down on the number of extra cups/bottles I need to bring for the day.

I was just going to mention this. That was a great help. I think I brought 2 in case one was lost.

This is true. We still have a few of the cups that we bought last Fall. If you do have to toss them, remember - they're recyclable!

Great tip about the baby care centers - we loved those places!

I am a greenie, so we did not use the take n toss (why throw extra plastics in the landfills). I found sippy cups that did not have a valve so they would be easier to clean in the hotel room. Before we left I wet a sponge and loaded it with soap. Then let it dry and cut it into pieces. That way I did not have to pack dish soap, but had some to wash cups. It worked great! I took 4 cups and rotated them throughout the trip.

That's why we recycle them - so we're not throwing extra plastic in the landfills. We bought one set last Fall and are still using some of the cups from that set. We wash them everyday (and did at WDW as well) and when one of the spouts cracks from our DD chewing on it, we put it in with our recyclables.

We went in July with dd just turned 3 and I took 2! I washed them out at night! We stayed in a studio, so we had dish soap!

We did 2 a day--washed them in the room and/or baby care as needed.

We made our own Disney themed sippy/bottle tether last year--and were asked continually where we purchased it from............it was very simple--it was a winnie the pooh wrist rattle, and then a piece of elastic with adhesive velcro that banded to the stroller on one end and the rattle on the other. The sippy then slid into the rattle. You could do the same thing with a Disney hair scrunchie.

I actually hit a clearance sale at the disney store at home, and bought a bunch of the rattles, so as they've gotten dirty, I just flip in a new one--right now, I think we have a nemo sippy holder.

I brought the take n toss (or whatever they're called). I brought 2-3 cups to the parks each day, 1 for water, 1 for milk, and 1 extra, just in case. The good thing about these is the cups can fit inside each other, so you can stack them. That way, they don't take up too much room in the diaper bag. We usually stay in a DVC villa which has a dishwasher, so washing the cups each night is easy.

We also reuse the cups. We have some at home that we've been using for years.

Thanks for all the great tips! I love that sippypal strap, I had never seen those! I also didn't realize the baby center's had dish soap sink etc in case cup gets sticky and dirty mid day. Thanks everyone! I hope my sippypal comes in time!

Love the sippypal idea! We are flying in so I will only be bring two cups to cut down on luggage.

For those of you who have or are getting the tethers. - we also attached toys to ours. Toys like linkadoos or anything that attaches to a carseat handle via a link are great for putting on the tether. DD also has a book that has a handle that we would attach to a tether so that it wouldn't fall from her stroller or restaurant highchair. We plan to attach her snacktrap bowl to one on this next trip.
