Sinus Infection Question

Can a sinus infection cause a bruised looking (greenish-yellow) eye area? DS6 has had a stuffy nose and about the same time appeared this bruised looking eye. I can't recall him getting hit in the eye area with anything, nor can he. He has no other symptoms and appears to be feeling fine otherwise, and hasn't had any icky mucus or drainage.

Just didn't know if it was something I should be overly concerned about or not.

Could he be dehydrated? That's one of the signs.

I have a sinus infection right now, so I feel for him.

Pedialyte wouldn't hurt.

Hope he feels better soon.

I guess that's a possiblity. He really isn't acting as if this is bringing him down at all. Last night he had way more energy that I have had in the last 5 years.

Where exactly is he "bruised"? If it's the inside corners & under the eye closes to the nose, yes it could be a sinus infection. But it seems like he would have more symptoms of infection.

Yes, about two years after my father died, my mother got this horrible bruise under her eye. She ended up going to the hospital for it and the ER doctor was convinced my mother was beaten. Finally, they took x-ray and determined it was a really bad sinus infection. My mother was so annoyed. The worst part is my father worked at that hospital until they day he died. Died there too. We kept telling the doc to call another doctor or even ask any of the staff and they would tell him there was no way my father could have beaten my mother, but he wouldn't.

BTW, this was a very small in a very small town. Everyone at the hospital knew my father.

Yes, it runs from about the corner of the inside of the right eye and down 1 1/2 - 2 inches. He's had this coloring for about 3 days.

Take him to the doctor....it can cause bruising if the sinuses are clogged. He may feel fine, but they could still be clogged. My friend's eye swells up when she has one even though she feels fine.

Thank you for the replies. I made an appointment for this afternoon, after school. I'm not one to run to the doctor on every whim, especially when there are no other symptoms, but we have 2 Christmas programs coming up and would rather err on the side of caution. We'll see what they have to say.

Thank you again for your replies. I took him in yesterday and there is no signs of any infections, just a cold. I had made the appointment and then went to something they had at school. While we were waiting for his sister to be dismissed I told him we were going to have his eye looked at by the doctor. He then precedes to tell me "Maybe it happened when Brady and I bumped heads playing steal the bacon in gym" Ugh! I asked him 3 days ago if he remembered bumping his eye and he couldn't recall anything. The eye never turned any other bruise color but the yellow-green.

Oh well, at least we got to the bottom of it. Now, to get rid of the nasty cough! Poor thing.

Glad to hear that your son is okay. My wife just spent three days in the hospital from an infection that caused bruising identical to what you described... definitely not something to try to diagnose at home, just in case.

A little late to the show but I had my first sinus infection not long ago and I had some bruising under my eye from that. Another thought before you posted the head bonk thing was allergies. Dark circles under the eyes is almost a certain sign of allergies.
