I was very paranoid about flying this time because the last time I experienced such horrible sinus pressure that I thought I was dying...seriously! The pain was so bad that I couldn't see! It was very scary!!! So, after reading other posts, I went prepared this time! This is what I did:
I bought those earplanes (CVS, about $5), put them in before take off and never took them out 'til we landed! -- Our flight was only 2 hours, and you are supposed to put them in 1 hour before landing, so I didn't see the point of taking them out and putting them back in)
I also bought a Vicks Inhaler (looks like a chapstick..CVS about $2)I "inhaled" at takeoff and as we were coming down.

As a result, my ears never "popped" once! The earplanes felt a bit odd in, and they muffled the noise (great when the baby in front was screaming!).

The Vicks Inhaler was the big "life saver" for me! As we were coming down, I started to feel that familiar pain above my eyes! I used the inhaler twice as we were landing! I never had more than an initial twinge!

If you suffer like I do, I'd recommend both these things, especially the inhaler!

Glad to hear they helped you! I've purchased the earplanes for our upcoming trip! I have yet to read a post where it said they didn't help. This will be our first time using them. (My DH usually has ear problems when he flies.)
