I need a new sink am at a loss as to what to get. I am getting new cabinets and granite so it has to be an undermount sink. I was going to get the typical stainless steel but then I saw some pictures of colored sinks. do you know what my options are? What kind of sink do you have and why do you love it? Also, what is the price line? Thank you.

Enamel will eventually chip. I would worry more about how deep it is and whether a 9x13 inch casserole dish will fit flat in the bottom. My old sink was way too small and now I have a nice big deep double sink that allows me a way to stack all the dirty dishes after a party!

I replaced sink & countertops 2 years ago. I did the deep undermount double stainless with 1 bowl oversized. I was unsure about the oversized bowl, but I love it! Casseroles, cookie sheets and pans fit with no problem- don't know how I lived without it! We did silesstone for kitchen counters- love that too. Did granite in master bath; SO glad I didn't for a kitchen, which was the original plan.
I have not heard good things about the colored sinks & duribility. I guess the scratches really show, but until it scratches it looks nice. I use my sink way too much for that!

I think the most important thing to think about it is if the sink is big enough to wash your pans and cookie sheets in. I've got a double sink in our cabin, and and I hate the fact that a 9 X 13 pan or a cookie sheet doesn't fit in the sink flat, it drives me crazy because I can't just put them in there to soak.

Personally I like the regular stainless steel. I think the colored ones will look dated very quickly. I do like the white enamel ones, but depending on your area, the water might discolor it quickly (my Mom's white sink has rust color stains that she can't get rid of), so that might be worth taking into consideration.

Stainless is timeless and will last forever. Our last house did not have a divided sink, just one giant one and I really miss it. Now I have a split sink and its so hard to wash big pots, pans, the dogs.

I have white porcelain and I love it. A little soft scrub occasionally and it looks great.

Look at Silgranite sinks - Blanco makes them. Have had a black one for 6+ years now and absolutely love it! You need to see them in person to appreciate them, think it's essentially ground up granite. The black has slight flecks of something that reflects the light and it's more a matte black than shiny. Several different bowl configurations available, and think a couple other colors as well. Would absolutely buy this again if I was looking at kitchen sinks

I adore my granite composite sink (Silgranit by Blanco). I have the black color that has a hint of sparkles in it I think called Anthracite. It is now 4 years old and my #1 favorite thing in our house! I will be installing another one right away in our next house when the day comes. My sink is also 10" deep which makes it awesome for washing dishes, soaking items, and even bathing my two Maltese. There is nothing I dislike about it! It even stays looking clean without any effort unlike stainless which needs to be polished (not a big deal but nice not to have to do).

I have to agree, go with a granite sink. We got ours back in 2006 when they first came out, and 6 years later, it still looks like NEW!!!! My SIL put in a stainless steel one with her kitchen remodel a couple of years ago and it already looks worn.... As a PP stated, it's my favorite thing in the house!!! We replaced an undermount enamel sink, which always showed scratches, think of those black lines that NEVER come out. It was a white one, and we have a white granite now. We do still get those scratches now, but they come right out with soft scrub or magic eraser.... BEST INVESTMENT EVER!!!!!!

I have the same sink and also LOVE it. its been in about a year now. I was just telling a friend of mine yesterday who is in the begining stages of building that she HAS to get one. I can't imagine any other sink especially with granite countertops.

The sink always looks clean. I love how deep it is, you can wash anything in it and no splashing!

Get the biggest sink you can. I got a free stainless steel sink 5 years ago, so I can't complain too much. It does show wear and tear. If I was paying for it, I would go with the dark granite composite sink.

i like the thought of the blanco sinks. Roughly how much do they cost? Thank you.

I have a Swanstone sink and I love it! It's black with flecks in it, divided with one side bigger than the other. It retails about $250, I got mine for $130 because someone had ordered it and then didn't pick it up! :cool1:

We have a stainless steel sink, with one side oversized. LOVE it!!!! The SS looks great and we put the sink through a lot. lol We use a Mr Clean Stain Eraser to clean it and man, it just shines! We've had our SS sink for about 7 years now.

I saw an ad on this website for mrdirect. Has anyone ordered from them before? The prices seem pretty good.

The Blanco Silgranit sinks are rather expensive, but I promise you that you will be 1,000% happy with this type of sink -- I literally can't stress enough how amazing they are.

Expect to pay about $400 on average for one. They have many different styles including ones with gorgeous curves along the back of the bowls, so depending on the size and style you select they can range from $200-$600 appx. I promise you it will be worth the cost. They are also very thick and muffle clanking/banging sounds, nice, huh! The only thing to note is if you drop a delicate glass in the sink it may break. It is a very hard material. I did break a glass once, but it slipped out of my hand from about 12" high so I wasn't surprised it broke. They do sell custom-fitted wire racks for the base of the sink bowl if you think you would like that...I don't have one but I remember having that option.

I hate the white enameled sink in my apartment. Its so discolored and nothing helps, although bar keepers seems to help the most but not enough. I do love the one giant bowl for my large skillets, crockpots, and baking dishes. My aunt has a tiny 31" wide double bowl and hardly anything fits in there. Thankfully she has a really good dishwasher so stuff goes in there directly, een the big stuff.

I grew up in a house with a large single bowl, and my grandmother would use a wash bucket with soap for dishes.

I had that sink but we have hard water & it always had a chalky white appearance to it. I hated it. We replaced it with a high quality stainless steel and couldn't be happier. My SS sink ran around $1400 6 years ago.

I got enamel in 2002. It has not chipped or anything like that but it does look so dated now. Like blast from the past sink. Stainless steel is the way to go.

my sink is going to be replaced. I got color matched porcelain to go with granite counters..The sink looks good, the part around the strainer area is gross IMHO. It has chipped and for all the money I paid, I am disappointed. We are going stainless, tho not really what I want. I may look into the other one mentioned here, blanco....
