Does anyone combine these two medications?

Our regular pediatrician is on a long medical leave and her fill-in told me to use this combo for dd, who is having a horrible time with allergies. Do the two work together OK? Are there any side effects I should be aware of? She has been on Singulair for a couple of years now. The Clairitin would be new. TIA!

I would ask a nurse (either friend or at that office) or the pharmacist.

I take Singulair as well as Allegra D(scrip allergy med) as well as allergy shots so you can take allergy meds with the Singulair. I don't know much about the clairitin though I have taken. I hope she gets better soon.

is your DD taking the Singulair for asthma? Singulair can be used for allergies or asthma with the difference being when you take it.
DD8 takes Singulair in the evening for asthma. She also takes Nasonex and Allegra for her allergies.

call your pharmacist - they can tell you anything you want to know.

I'm on Singulair and 5 other allergy meds (though amazingly not Claritin right now!) and have never had a problem mixing them all. It's always wise to ask a pharmacist, though; that's why they're around =)

I'm on both of them and have found it to be the most successful treatment for me.

Thanks for the information. I went to the pharmacy and asked the pharmacist his opinion. He said that it would be OK for her to take the Claritin with the Singulair.

I bought the kind that will dissolve in her mouth but we are going to work on learning how to swallow pills later this week. She has to take her Singulair in the evening, so I'm going to give her the Claritin in the morning.

My son takes both Singulair and Clairitin. He does take them both at night, which is what the Dr suggested. We were supposed to go on Friday to the allergist, but just found out he had to go out of town and the next appointment we could get was June 20th :rolleyes2

I take Singulair and Allegra and my allergies are under the best control they have ever been. DH takes only the Allegra and is having problems; I've suggested he discuss Singulair with his doctor.

After experimenting with a variety of med combos, the allergist put DD17, who has allergies and asthma, on Allegra-D in the AM (it can cause trouble sleeping) and Sinulair in the PM. She's been having the best luck the this regime. Although that could be b/c she is actually taking the meds for a change.....

My doc put me on both of these too (I have allergies and asthma) but didn't mention a timeframe of when to take them. Interesting.
