Single stroller that folds the most compactly?

Could anyone tell me which single stroller folds the most compactly to give us the most room in our van? It also needs to be a good stroller with handles for taller people, and has to hold a child at least 45lbs.(my big 4yr. old!). I know the Maclarens might be good for him, but I'm not sure which model, also I don't want to spend a fortune.

I am also considering a jogger since we can still use it at home so that wouldn't be a worthless purchase! (The Instep single jogger($98 at Amazon) seems to be a great value, but I'm worried about the space it would take up)

Pics of a compactly folded stroller would be awesome too! I would like to bring a small, compact stroller but am afraid of how much room it is going to take up in the van! But I would like to have my own since we will be in FL for 2weeks. Thanks for any ideas:yay:

We bought our Maclaren Triumph for our WDW trip last year. It was great! Check out maclarenbaby.com They have a chart that gives you all of the specifics on each model. I believe it also shows them folded at some point. I loved the carry strap.

The triumph reclines, but doesn't have as many features as the Quest & other higher end models. Maclarens will hold from 55-65 lbs depending on the model. Twin models obviously hold more.

We bought ours on Ebay. It was a brand new in box 2005 model $100. I just refused to pay more than $100 & kept watching until I found one. If I had known that you can buy replacement fabric parts from Maclaren, I would have bought the Quest frame that sold for around $50 when I first started to look :)

Most BabyRUs stores carry most of the models. I tried them out before I bought.

I would go to BRU and have your child sit in the different Maclaren models. My 5 year old liked two models, and one she said the seat was too short (she is pretty tall.) I took that info and got a great deal off of ebay.

We just got the Maclaren Volo for DS 4, who is 42" tall. We got last year's color for $65 plus free shipping on Ebay. The stroller was NIB. It folds up very tiny and has a carrying strap.
We already love this stroller even though we really only got it for Disney. I figured it was cheaper to buy than to rent there anyway.

The mac and the bjcm would work for all of your needs. here is a pic of my techno folded next to my bjcm I can take more pics for you if you would like to see a better pic.

ETA~ it doesn't look like it in this photo but the bjcm is flatter than the mac folded.

Thanks so much everyone for the replies......extra thanks for those pics from cancer survivor 06! That is weird, I would have never expected that the the bjcm would be flatter, but I can tell it is!
And to karin037 I have been looking at that stroller, but the only thing that bugs me is that on the baby jogger website it says that the city series shouldn't be used for jogging and that is one reason we considered a jogger(ours is worn out). Hmm..so that is what made me look at the instep jogger even though I'm sure that the quality on the baby jogger brand is much better!
Well, I am still undecided.. there are just so many choices!!! Thanks!!!

A lot of jogging strollers have easily detachable wheels, so they may end up folding much flatter than other strollers.

I have a whole stable of strollers-- it's a sickness! The smallest folding ones are the Combi City Savvy (probably won't work for you- short and on the small side), Mac Volo, and Peg Pliko.

Of all the strollers, I love the Pliko the absolute best.

We have a Baby Jogger City Mini and the reason it's not a jogging stroller is the wheel- they're plastic, not inflatable. There's no safety wrist strap like you'll find on other joggers either.

In general a swivel wheel jogger is not ment for jogging it is just for all terrain purposes that is the main reason BJ states that on most of their strollers. I prefer the bj over the macs b/c the seat is bigger the push is better and it isn't as tippy as the macs. the combi's are really only good for the about the first two years of a childs life. the pegs are very nice I have the double aria and it is super light which is nice and the plikos are awesome but it seems a bit small for older kiddos. Of course you never know until you try them and we don't have them around here. I like the silver cross dazzle over the mac to me it isn't tippy like the mac as well. keep an eye out on mamabargains.com they have the easywalker sky list there about once a month for 219 and most of the time it has flat rate ship of 15 dollars it has a 75 pound weight limit and a decent fold as well in addition they will list the carrycot/bassinet that attaches to it. You could probably even email them and if they have some still you may be able to get one if you don't mind the colors they have left right now. Another one you might like is the Valco/TFK buggster it provides good sun coverage has a 55 pound weight limit and you can also get the carrycot for it but the fold on it is like the mac and is just a bit wider.

check your local CL to see what you can find on there you may find a gem in the rough if ya know what I mean. If you haven't guessed by now I have that stroller sickness mentioned above as well.lol.

Well, if you really want small, your best bet is a Quinny Zapp. Folded it is 27" x 10" x 11". The Mia Moda Cielo is also small, at 22" x 10" x 18". The Combi Flex (their tallest model that will hold a child that heavy) folds to 13" x 18" x 35"

Most Macs fold to about 42" x 10" x 14". Plikos fold in a more long-block fashion with the seat folded out instead of in; they are about 40" x 14" x 12" when folded.

We have a a Mia Moda Cielo. My dd is 4 and weighs 34lbs and we don't have a problem pushing her. Oh, I'm 5' 8" and dh is 6' 2" and it's fine. We bought it specifically for traveling because of it's small size. It folds into a small square.

Wow, there are so many great strollers! Well, I think I have decided that a jogger is out because most have the larger wider back wheels anyway. That wouldn't be very helpful if I wanted to shop a bit. I think that maneuvering around is as important to me as the compact fold.
I see that the Macs are very popular. I looked at the volo since that would be a great budget stroller, but it doesn't recline. My ds might fall asleep if we do a park all day. The triumph does look good for maneuvering through stores also. I just wondered about the height requirements. DS is about 44in. tall..will his head have support in the mac's? Thanks!

That's funny I just shipped my strawberry zapp out today and going to pick up my tangerine one tomorrow. I didn't recommend that one b/c it actually doesn't hold a bigger child very well for disney at least I use mine for quick runs only. The push is incredible and can be done w/ two fingers even w/ a 40 pound child in it but it has no recline and the shade is only so so.

This is a comparison of what my girls look like in the bjcm and the mac techno that I have. My oldest is 8 she is 48 inches tall and my youngest is about 40 inches tall.

My 3 year old granddaughter (4 in June) is 47 lbs, and 42 inches tall. She is starting to outgrow her Maclaren strollers (Quest and Techno). When she is reclined, her head reaches the top and she is not very comfortable. She likes to take naps in her stroller at WDW. I hope the Baby Jogger will be better for her to nap in. The Mac is fine if she's sitting up. This picture was taken 6 months ago, she's a little bigger now.

we just got a Combi Flare- it says it goes to 55lbs. It folds flat, then also into thirds:

It has a tiny basket underneath, and a good size shade. It is easy to assemble, but I had to find a video online to figure out how to get it to fold into the thirds. :) It has a carrying strap and only weighs 11lbs.

Cancer survivor...... I've been looking all over for cupholders for my Mac. Triumph. Yours are exactly what I want. Where did you get them?

I bought them on ebay they are the valco baby universal cupholders I actually have two of them on my baby jogger right now as well. I love love love them and they hold my disney mugs and animal topper cups very nicely w/ no chance of them falling.
