Has anyone seen people in the "Single riders line" who insisted on riding together and how the CMs handled it? We saw it first hand 2 weeks ago and just thought to post it. A lady and her young DS were in line in front of DH and DSs (not young!). When she got to the front and the CM pointed to 2 spots in different cars, she said "Oh no, we have to ride together. He's [don't remember] and can't ride alone" So the CM politely, but firmly, explained that this was the SINGLE riders line and she had to go to the end of the regular line if she wanted otherwise. She was upset, naturally, but we were glad to see that the policy was enforced and that the CM, while as nice as he could be, stuck to his guns.

I use it all the time..sometimes if youre lucky you will get to sit with someone from your family..maybe not next to you, but in the same car.

I wouldn't make it obvious that you are together, otherwise they will intentionally put you separate. I've seen them put people in the same car, maybe front and back.

This past Easter I saw the same thing and the CM couteously told the woman that she was in the SINGLE RIDER line and that it was expected that she would be separated from her child. Mom got in our car and her son refused to get on the next one. Needless to say my DH (we were in the fastpass line) and I heard her cursing that child during the whole ride and it wasn't pretty!

I am positive there are signs that say your group WILL be separated.

I guess it goes to show you people think that the rules are for everyone else but them!

We always do the single line for TT and get separated, but last week the 4 of us got in the same car! Couldn't believe it! Don't know how it happened because there was quite a long line in the regular line. :D

Wow, I never saw that happen but glad to hear the CM enforced the policy. If they didn't I could just see the single rider line as long as the regular line.

I never understood why the family would wait that long in the regular line when they had older kids. The ride goes by so fast you don't really get a chance to talk or anything to your family anyway.

Yes, I have seen it enforced in no uncertain terms - the guests put up quite a fuss as well but finally realised they had no choice but to be put into separate rows/cars

There are signs...just people trying to get away with something

Thanks

I've seen this happen too. Some people just want to get away with everything, but you are right, if people thought they could, then the line would be as long as the other line.

I have had instances of being separated and other times of being together.

I just wish that they would start enforcing the smoking area policies with the same vigor and consistency that they enforce other things!

Also if the person looks at the bright orange ticket it says that you will be seperated from your group. When the cast member hands you the ticket they remind you that you are in a single rider line.

Speaking of the orange ticket, I had an experience about a year ago. I got the ticket and went through all the way up to the front, no one else in the single rider line. I stood there for a minute or two and all of the sudden this teenage guy was behind me. He jumped over from the standby line. He didn't have the orange ticket and so they made him get out of the line and go all the way back to get the ticket or get back in standby. I was still the only one so they put me in a preshow room all by myself! It felt strange, I know they probably have a monitor camera in there so I felt like I was being watched.

Just tried the single rider line on Friday, June 6th with my nephew who is 11 and my son who is 6. My nephew and son ended up in the same car, one in the front row, the other in the back. I was one car ahead of them. My 6 year old was alittle reluctant at first at the thought of not being right beside me, but he wanted to get on the ride and the single ride line was only 15 minutes. It worked out fine. We ended up going back later and using Fastpasses for a ride together.

We will definitely use the single line again.

We've done the single riders line a few times when the fast passes were gone.
My DD, DH and I.......once we ended up each one of us in seperate cars all in a row.
once DD and I in the same car but one in front and one in back.
once DH got seperated from us......we were ahead of him and we ended up waiting about 10 minutes for him to get off the ride after us.

I have seen the CM explaining the "policy" to guests attempting to ride together. But no one really gave them a hard time. The guests just split up with a "oh well, we tried".

I was just there last wensday and they play a statement "all pasengers in the single rider line will be split up, if this is a problem please speak to a cast member"

I can not imagine someone pulling that stunt. You are clearly informed that you will be not be set together as a group. I love the single rider line and I am glad that it is available.

We always use the single line, follow the rules and have a great tine.....BUT the first time we tried it my then 7 year old was all for it. He had been on TT numerous times with us prior...we get up to go on and we separate.....he starts to get scared and cry. I got out of my car, said thank you and went to go down the stairs and leave. I was not going to push him to go on, nor would I teach him how to break rules so off we were to go. I am thinking, maybe next year he will be ready. I am holding his hand as we go down to the picture area and a CM is following us. She actually took us into the behind the scenes area with all the mon itors and all. She gave me a ticket to come back the back way by myself, and by the time she was done calming my DS down he was ready to do it. Well, he went on by himself, quite proud of himself and then he got a ticket to do it again through the backway with me. It was Disney Magic at its best and probably done as we understood the rules and followed them. It was a good lesson for my son that doing the right thing works out.

The first time I rode TT was in March, on my 30th or so trip to Disney and my boyfriend's first trip. My grandparents had already done it and told us about the wonders of the single rider line, so we decided to do it our first time to avoid the line. We were handed the orange slip, which clearly spells it out. The CM stated to us at the entrance that we were in the single rider's line and would be split up. We got to the top where you're sent to the preshow rooms and the CM there told us again. There was a sign inside the preshow room. We were the only people in there, and I spent the entire preshow time dancing around the room, hehe! We went into the line right there at the ride, and were the only people in it. We were in cars one behind the other, so it was fine. Not the same car, but it was fine. We both loved the ride and rode it about 4 more times on that trip! That line is the way to go.

We have single rider tricks... mind you they have been tested at USF and IOA, but in thoery would work at WDW as well.

We are two adults, two children.

At Men in Black, one of the adults would go first, with BOTH kids in the middle, and another adult in the back, (we would call it a kid sandwich)

The first adult would go into a car, this car would go first, and be out first so an adult would be waiting at the exit.

Then the CM's would see the kids and put either a) both of them on the same ride.. since they are brother and sister

b) put them in separate cars, but leave at the same time so they would get out together

Then the final adult would go to "bring up the rear".. Just in case there is a problem with any of the cars the kids are in, they can survey it.. and check on the situation.

That is our Single rider strategy.,.. we have done it in Spiderman as well, and it works well.

One time I did Test Track with single rider with my son, and he was younger (5), they did separate us but in different rows.

We did attempt the singles line once when my youngest daughter was almost 7. She had ridden TT several times and was sure she could do the singles line...(FPs were all gone and stand-by was 75 minutes, so we decided to try it.)

We explained clearly to DD that she would have to ride separately and she was all for it until... it actually came to getting on by herself...then changed her mind and cried. The CM was not nice to us, “You should know you won’t get put on together–that’s why it’s the singles’ line--head to the exit.” DD and I headed out with her crying even harder because she really wanted to ride. I felt bad for her. :(

The other DDs and DH did their singles rides and crying DD and I headed out. As we were heading out the "chicken exit", an older CM interpreted her tears as fear of the ride and gave her a pep talk about the fun of the ride. He gave her and I a "baby swap pass" in case she changed her mind.

This did allow us to go back in line and ride together which worked out. (Not our original intent--We were NOT trying to pull a stunt or get around the rules), just a change of heart by a young child.

We did not attempt the singles line any more that trip with young DD!

We always do the single's line. My son And I rode three times in 30 minutes. I did see a woman try yo make sure she and her son were on the same car but the CM explained what the singles line was and she didn't like. And yes there are signs that say you will be split up in the singles line..We rode five times this trip and never waited more than 10 minutes..

This happened to me last week. My DS6 threw a fit after he realized that he would be sitting alone. When we got to the front I politely asked the cast member if we could ride together because my son was having a fit. He told me that the best that he could do is same car one in front of the other. I thanked him and my son no longer complained and enjoyed the ride, mind you he has been on it over 20 times.
