single rider lines

This year, gods willing, I will be going back to Orlando for my August birthday and going to Universal/IOA for the first time. Not sure I can afford an onsite hotel though the FOTL sounds great. My question is this. How fast do the single rider lines move? Are they a halfway decent subsitute for FOTL?

Single riders line really depends on the regular and express line. It also depends on the operators if they know how to manage the lines. Most of the times the singles line runs pretty well.

The week before Christmas, the single riders went much better than the FOTL!!! I haven't really ever had a problem with single riders...there have been times where I actually ended up with my kids on Spiderman & the Hulk as well as Dr Doom

We just returned. DS (10) and I did single rider for everything. Some times we got to ride together. In the mornings, we never waited more than 15 minutes. In the afternoon it gets crowded but single rider waits are SOOOOOO much shorter than the regular lines.

I felt like I had FOTL access. People would be looking at us as we would be lining up for our second ride while they were still waiting to ride it once.

I tried the single riders' line at Mummy last week. It took 20 minutes, vs. 45 for the regular queue.

They were using one side of the ride platform exclusively for Express and not doing a very good job of filling single seats on the other side.

Thanks everybody! Looks like solo is the way to go! Now if i could just find a decent nearby offsite hotel.

DO NOT STAY AT THE QUALITY INN AND SUITES on Windover Dr.... the phrase "you get what you pay for" rung in my ears daily.

Actually I was thinking of the Holiday Inn across the street from Universal. Any comments about this hotel?

I asked the attendant at the entrance to MIB Saturday which was faster, the express or single riders? He said they were the same so I got in express and queued up behind a guy and made note of what he was wearing. I switched to single and ended up even with the guy at the top of the stairs but he ended up loading along with 57 additional people from the express line before I loaded. Express is faster at MIB.

First to express you have to go and get the pass. That means you have to come back at a later time. We rode MIB/Mummy single rider around 9:00-9:30 a.m. twice in 15 minutes. It REALLY depends on the crowd. We didn't bother getting an express pass b/c the single rider lines were short. However, by afternoon...that was a different story.

We rode everything single rider MIB/Mummy/Spiderman/Dr. Doom back to back without a wait, but this was first thing in the morning. We only used express passes when we wanted to come back later and ride again during the afternoon.
