Single Rider Line & Child Swap

I need some clarification on the two. I'll be going with my 2yo DD and my 17yo niece. For the Child Swap, it's only on the rides that she's not tall enough for and we would wait in the stand by line and then tell a CM we want to do a child swap.
Is the single rider line a separate line from the stand by and fast pass line (if it offers fast pass)? I've read on the boards that some people go as a single rider just because it's faster. So would we be better off just going through as single riders?
I'm confused!:confused3

I only remember using single rider on a few rides but child swap is basically a fast pass. Go to the CM checking FP at the entrance and ask for a child swap pass.. they will give them to you there... Bring the child with you because they are suppose to see the child that is not tall enough to ride... As I recall, they will give you two passes so that the person waiting with the child can ride with someone in the party..

Rider swap - approach the CM before you enter the line, have the entire party together including the child who can't ride. The CM will give you a "Rider Switch Pass" and the party riding first can then enter the line and ride. The parent waiting with the child can then leave and take the child to do something else or just wait for the first party to be done.

Then the parent who waited with the non riding child can return to that ride anytime that day and ride using the Rider Switch Pass via the FP line. The switch pass is good for a total of 3 riders so the parent can enjoy the ride with family/friends and doesn't have to ride alone.

Only a few rides offer single rider lines, EE, RNRC and Test Track. You will not receive a rider switch pass when using the single rider line.

Really the purpose of getting a rider switch pass is so that the other adult doesn't have to ride alone. For example if you were a family with two parents, an older child, and a baby than each parent would get a chance to ride with the older child.

Since there are only two adults in your party, each of you is going to have to ride alone anyway. You may as well get FPs and ride that way since it will be exactly the same as doing rider switch.

If you don't have FPs for a ride, than you could ask for the RS pass. The first person could go either via standby or single rider line (if there is one) and the second can use the RS pass through the FP line.

Thanks, that makes more sense. I thought most rides had a single rider line so then there wouldn't be a reason to use the child swap. I can see how if there's a fast pass for a ride, I wouldn't need to use the child swap either.

We took full advantage of the Rider Swap pass. Best thing is that my girls got to ride twice :) Once with my hubby while I stayed behind with the baby; then again with me once we swapped through the Fast Pass line with our pass. :thumbsup2

While it is true that you will each have to ride alone anyway, the baby swap will still save you a lot of time one some rides. Yes, FP will be faster but you can only use them during a small narrow window of time and only hold so many at a time. Before they enforced the return time FP were a much faster way to ride. We love the single rider lines on EE and TT and wish there were more of them, they seem to be the quickest way to ride. Sooooo...I would use the single rider line on those few rides, Use FP when you have them and then fill in by doing baby swap. There are really not a huge number of rides that you can not all ride together.

We would use the Child Swap where there were only two of us to maximize the number of FPs we could get. For instance, we would get one Fast Pass for Tower of Terror and one Fast Pass for Rock and Roll Rollercoaster and then get a Baby Swap FP for each of them.

When we go with our 21 year old son, my husband and my son will get in the single rider line. It's faster and they usually end up together anyway bc they stand in line together. I don't ride the roller coaster type rides so this works for us....:)

This!

I can't speak on the other rides but on Soarin it specifically states 2 on the ticket and the CM's wouldn't let our 3rd in.

Also someone else posted a link to disney confirming this.

Just be careful doing this. When I was there in June they were having EVERYONE in the party (not sure about the ones who were actuall too small to ride, but all adults) scan their magic bands BEFORE issuing the riders swap pass.

The last rider swap I got at EE on Thursday said 3 ON the ticket. Maybe some attractions have a different number, or they are changing the tickets for this month.

I don't know if you noticed but this thread is over 2 years old and was bumped by someone with too much time on their hands. My advice was for pre-FP+ :thumbsup2. So the "waiting" adult also needed a FP+ to get a child swap? That's interesting :scratchin. Thankfully we are well past needing rider swaps (and I hope to continue not needing one for at least 10 more years ).

I know this is an old bumped thread, but I'd actually like to know how child swap works now with fp+ :confused3
